...Genesis Draper has been appointed to preside over County Criminal Court at Law #12 after the untimely death of the Honorable Judge Cassandra Y. Hollemon.

The late Barbara Jordan was born on Friday, February 21, 1936 in Houston, Texas. She lost two races for the Texas House before winning back in 1966 when she became the first African American woman elected to the Texas Senate — she was only 30 years old at the time. She went on to become the first congresswoman to come from the deep South. Congresswoman Jordan served in the United States Congress from 1972 to 1978.
