When asking younger voters about voting, most said they no longer partake in voting because of no representation of the people and the overwhelming criminal activity ongoing in elected office “They push voting but not our community issues,” said one young woman But Montiel is from a family of hard times and wants to see improvement for all the people in her district

As Americans, we so often take for granted the blan ket of freedom our Constitution and nation’s military pro vides But we can always be reminded when we look to our nation s veterans to share stories of the sacrifices they ve endured and made to defend our freedom
I hope the millions of Americans celebrating July 4th this weekend will reflect on and honor the sacrifices our mili tary men and women have made so that we have something to celebrate on July 4th; and I hope they express pride to be living in the most free and prosperous country on Earth a country which protects our endowed freedoms and liberties from those who would do it harm

Trever Nehls has dedicated his life to service At the age of 19, he enlisted in the US Army National Guard He was de ployed to defend our freedom in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, and com manded troops at the company, battalion and brigade level Trever is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, the Joint Forces Staff Col lege and the Command and General Staff College This past August, he retired with the rank of Colonel after 33 years of dedicated service He is a deco rated combat veteran, most notably the recipi ent of three Bronze Star medals.
