On Wednesday, December 3, Hunters Nightclub presented their annual "Glad to Give Gala," which this year benefitted Sunserve. The gala’s dress code was elegant evening, and included a buffet, Hors D'oeuvres, open bar and live music.

Also on Saturday, Arts United Gallery presented their Winners Showcase Exhibition. This is where the winners of Arts United exhibitions this past year showcased their art until Dec 27. The night was also a celebration of life for Daniel Wasinger (artist, web developer and friend).

On Thursday, December 4, Water Taxi started their Holiday Lights Cruise, a magical journey through the city’s iconic waterways which happens through January 3. Each 90-minute cruise features live musical entertainment, festive ambiance, and breathtaking views of the Intracoastal Waterway’s beautifully illuminated docks, lavish estates and shimmering holiday décor.

On Saturday, December 6, Twist presented Superstar DJ Deanne for one night only in her exclusive Art Basel performance. This night also celebrated Deanne’s 20th Anniversary at Twist.

On Wednesday, December 10, The Miami Dade LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce presented their annual “Holigay Celebration and Toy Drive” and as always this was a fun event that brought out the movers and shakers of Miami.

On Tuesday, December 9, there were 2 events, the first was “Judy Garland: We Need a Little Christmas” which was a musical celebration starring Debbie Wileman as Judy Garland at The Parker.

It was a pleasure to sit down with cast member Norton James for this exclusive Hotspots interview: At what age did you begin performing and how did it happen?

I started performing when I was about 14.

My dad is an actor, so it’s in my blood.

However, I was into sports, but I was basically the biggest guy in the school, and

they needed me to play in Oliver Twist, so I did. As soon as I finished that role, I transferred from Sports to acting and never looked back.

What was your first professional gig acting (a gig you got paid any amount of money for)?

It was in England and it was a Pantomime when I was at Drama School.

When did you know performing would be your career?

That would have been at about 18. I started taking extra classes and studying TV and theater. Since I was tall and not your typical performer, I was trying to figure out how I can make a lane for myself as an actor.

Other than this show, what has been your favorite role so far?

The national tour of Jersey Boys and I played the role of Mckinsey…it was a dream come true to play one of the Four Seasons.

What’s your fantasy role (a role you haven’t played but would die to play)?

Javier in Les Miz, it’s been the dream role since I started this career. It will happen one day!

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Big, friendly, giant.

What do you do for fun?

I produce my own show as well and help people get shows off the ground. My show is an audio-visual show that celebrates woman in history.

Finally, what should our readers expect from this touring company of “The Choir on Man?” All I can say is it’s 90 minutes of pure fun.

The show has a true heart and a theme of

community. The show says that it doesn’t matter where you are from or who you are (race, creed, sexuality) this is a safe space for everyone to have a good time. We are stronger together then we are apart…that is the ethos of the show. It follows some stereotypical people in the pub, and each performer brings a little bit of themselves.

We break the 4th wall all the time, and as soon as you come into the theater you become a part of the pub, and there is an actual working bar on stage. It breaks a lot of theater etiquette, but it’s so much fun as there is audience interaction and participation. I have been doing this show for 8 years now and it’s the best show! It’s the most fun they can have in West Palm Beach this Christmas. West Palm is the first stop of this tour, and we are in rehearsals and the cast is sounding phenomenal and we are so excited to bring it to Florida.

Is there anything else you want to say?

We are also excited that ticket sales are doing well, so if you want to come get your tickets now as they are flying off the shelves.

I played Columbia in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and that was so much fun as it was a gender bender show. It was a beautiful space that was filled with Trans and Non binary joy.

What’s your fantasy role (a role you haven’t played but would die to play)?

I have two…I would love to play Angel in Rent and Paul in A Chorus Line. Angel is a beacon of light that I would love to get my hands on, and for Paul you have to be good at acting, singing and dancing and I feel so lucky that the Boston Conservatory trained me for this. In addition, Paul has such a great monologue that I would love to be able to deliver.

Since you are party of the LGBTQ+ community, do you have a message to the community?

My message is to always keep shining and shine your light wherever you can. I think May is such a trailblazing role for our community. If I can do this as a non-binary actor, so can you!

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Driven, bright, and Virgo.

What do you do for fun?

He-Man, gay icon, is back in action

Cynthia Erivo has more in store We’ve already told you about Cynthia Erivo’s upcoming stage role in London in Kip Williams’ “Dracula” where she will play 23 different characters. But the queer “Wicked” star has more film work in the pipeline, too.

First up is the YA romantic fantasy “Children of Blood and Bone” from filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood, with an ensemble cast co-starring Viola Davis, Idris 72 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Elba and Regina King. Then there’s the action thriller from Takashi Doscher called “Karoshi” co-starring Giancarlo Esposito. And finally, a starring role in “Prima Facie,” a legal drama from “Jane Eyre” director Susanna White, which Erivo is also producing. That’s always that next level for actors who want to call the shots for their own projects, and once you’ve been in back-to-back monster hits, it’s time to strike. More queer women with Hollywood power in 2026, bring it on.

Ask a gay man who was a child in the 1980s about He-Man and “Masters of the Universe.” That gay man will talk about more than action figures and cartoons. That gay man will tell you about his awakening. And you’ll probably be hearing more about this in 2026 when the live-action “Masters of the Universe” movie hits the summer multiplex. And who’ll be playing He-Man? That would be Nicholas Galitzine, who’s straight but co-starred in “Bottoms” and played a gay lead in “Red, White & Royal Blue” (as well as its upcoming sequel), and who, at this point, should form some kind of straights-as-gays alliance with Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal. As for actual queer cast members of this guaranteed camp experience, that would be former “SNL” star Sasheer Zamata, who we’ll be very happy to see representing the community.

One of 2025’s saddest celebrity passings has been that of the beloved actress Diane Keaton, who starred in Thomas Bezucha’s 2005 Christmas classic, “The Family Stone.” The gay director (of “Big Eden” fame) built queer characters into the fabric of that film — fairly unusual for a Christmas movie two decades ago — solidifying its place in LGBTQ+ film history. Recently, the filmmaker revealed that, with Keaton in mind, he’s working on a script for a sequel, one that would take place after Keaton’s matriarch character’s death at the end of the first film.

Now all that’s needed is to gather the original cast — Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel McAdams, Claire Danes, Craig T. Nelson and Luke Wilson — and a studio to greenlight it for another go at family holiday togetherness.

Thomas Bezucha is writing a ‘Family Stone’ sequel for Diane Keaton

‘Burning Rainbow Farm’ takes on real-life hate Coming soon to a serious-minded screen is “Burning Rainbow Farm,” starring Sebastian Stan (“Thunderbolts”) and Leo Woodall (“Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy”). It’s a true story, based on Dean Kuipers book of the same name, about a gay couple with a young son who ran a farm in rural Michigan that became a hub of pro-marijuana activism, until the authorities decided to shut it down.

What happened next was a

series of harrowing events with an unhappy ending, a textbook case of anti-LGBTQ hatred, and one that should wind up being a riveting film about one of many terrible events in queer history. Justin Kurzel (“The Order”) is directing and the film is currently in production for an unspecified release date in 2026. In the meantime, if it’s spoilers you’re after, you can always read the non-fiction book.
