The Style-Savvy Local Shoe designer Aruna Seth suggests ways to shop up a storm in NYC

I am a major New York fan after living there for several months in my 20s, and I travel back there at least once a month now that my shoes are stocked in Neiman Marcus (neimanmarcus.com). Shopping wise, New York is the pick of all cities. I absolutely love spending the day on Madison Avenue. The Oscar de La Renta boutique there is amazing, and you’ll also find a fantastic store called Roundabout (roundaboutcouture.com). It’s an overspill designer store that’s full of Chanel, Bluemarine and Dior. While in this part of the city I’ll treat myself to a few rose macaroons from the Lauderee store (laduree.com) at 864 Madison Avenue. Of course, no shopping trip to NYC is complete without a walk around the beautiful and classic Bergdorf Goodman (bergdorfgoodman.com). Each visit I make a beeline for the Valentino section, one of my favourite designers. I always spoil myself with a makeover in Sephora (sephora.com). Many people don’t know that some of the stores, like the one located at 555 Broadway in SOHO, have private rooms where you can pamper yourself. Using one of the consultants in Sephora teaches you so much about new products you wouldn’t normally know. Whenever here I always stay at The London NYC (thelondonnyc.com). They even give me the same bedroom now that I’ve stayed there so often! However, I’ve recently discovered a super boutique hotel called The Surrey (thesurrey.com) on the city’s Upper East Side, which may just make me change my mind the next time I’m in town.
