Testing Center
The Testing Center is dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service to Hostos students, faculty, and the community, while upholding the integrity of testing in a secure environment. Whether you’re pursuing higher education, preparing to enter the workforce, or advancing your career, the Testing Center serves as a vital resource.
Two exams are administered: the Accuplacer ESL Exam for incoming students and the Ability to Benefit Exam for students who graduated from a high school outside the United States and are seeking eligibility for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). Detailed information about these exams, including sample questions and scoring policies, is available on the Hostos website.

Transfer Services
The Transfer Services Office is dedicated to providing integrated services and resources to students seeking to transfer to a four-year institution, supporting them throughout the college search, decision-making process, and scholarship opportunities. The Center works across divisions to ensure smooth credit transfer within CUNY and collaborates with various academic offices to guide students in selecting the right courses for their transfer goals. At the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), students with disabilities can access the supports and accommodations they need to be successful in college and beyond. In addition to classroom and campus accommodations, students have the opportunity to use our fully accessible computer lab, participate in workshops, and be trained in the use of our assistive technologies. Registered ARC students are given the opportunity to grow through campus- and CUNY-wide activities where they can build relationships and be introduced to job opportunities. The Athletics and Recreation programs at Hostos supplement the educational process by enhancing students’ mental and physical development. Children’s Center
The Hostos Community College Children’s Center, Inc. (the Center)is a daycare program that allows students of Hostos Community College to attend classes while their children (ages 6 weeks - 4 years old) are in a safe environment. Cultural diversity, language acquisition, and age appropriate practices are seen as keys in meeting the educational, social, emotional, and physical needs of children and their families. The Center liaises with various departments here at Hostos as well as with various community organizations to provide workshops on nutrition, parenting, stress management, and other topics of interest to student parents. We offer enrichments like Art and Yoga to Center students and their families as well as implement a researched based curriculum that is aimed to meet every child where they are.

CUNY EDGE
CUNY EDGE is a partnership between the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the City University of New York, designed to support CUNY students receiving public assistance. The program helps students excel academically, graduate on time, and gain employment. CUNY EDGE offers structured academic programming, personalized advising, and career planning support. It encourages full-time enrollment and intersession courses to keep students on track. Through the HRA Fellowship Program, students gain work experience and career readiness. Each semester, CUNY EDGE hosts personal and professional development seminars on topics like study skills, self-advocacy, and financial literacy. Students can also access math tutoring, modest incentives for participation, and join other CUNY programs like ASAP, SEEK, and College Discovery. Eligible students may receive tuition assistance to help them graduate.

Counseling Services
Counseling is provided in a private and supportive environment. Students may focus on academic and career issues, family problems, personal development concerns, and other matters of importance to them. Most counselors on the staff are bilingual. The Counseling Center maintains a close collaborative relationship with instructional faculty, who are a source of many student referrals. In addition to one-on-one services to students the Counseling Center runs small group sessions to support students through significant life transitions.

Family Empowerment Program (FEP)
Families United in Education Program (FUiE)
The mission of the Family Empowerment Program (FEP)/Families United in Education Program (FUiE) at Hostos is to provide social and academic support services to enrolled students (student parents and relatives). Students and their families are connected to resources within Hostos and the community, providing them with cultural experiences through the arts. Each student enrolled is provided with individualized case management and social work services, advocacy, educational workshops, transportation, emotional support and much more.

The One Stop Program at Hostos offers free, supportive services to help students succeed academically and stay on track to complete their degrees. One Stop provides personalized referrals to resources tailored to students’ needs, including assistance with SNAP and cash benefits, Medicaid, housing, Social Security, disability (SSI), transportation, and access to the food pantry. Additional support includes debt and credit counseling, financial planning, small business guidance, legal advice, Financial Need Grants, and more. The Health & Wellness Center provides programming that offers services to encourage “wellness,” which we define as a harmonious state resulting from the delicate balance of physical, emotional, spiritual, social, sexual, intellectual, and environmental/ occupational health. Our emphasis is on accentuating and promoting positive lifestyle choices as a way of preventing illness and disease. The Health & Wellness Center is also the college’s compliance office for immunization regulation and, in collaboration with the Office of Public Safety, is the primary response unit for on-campus medical emergencies.

The Office of Student Activities
The Office of Student Activities creates and promotes out-of-classroom experiences for students. Student Activities interacts closely with the members of more than 50 student organizations, assisting in the areas of leadership skills training and event programming. Our collaborative efforts also include working with the elected leaders of the Student Government Association (SGA) to register clubs and manage the student electoral process.

Student Leadership Academy (SLA)
The Student Leadership Academy embodies the spirit of Eugenio María de Hostos by empowering students to grow as leaders through service, scholarship, and community engagement. Academy members develop leadership skills while broadening their perspectives and making a difference locally and globally.
The Academy offers co-curricular programs that prepare students to become effective global citizens. Students can formally join one of four programs—the Hostos Student Ambassador Program (HSA), Student Orientation Services (SOS), Emerging Leaders Program (HELP), or the Volunteer Corps—or participate in leadership workshops and events open to the entire student body. In collaboration with the Student Government Association (SGA), Phi Theta Kappa, academic departments, and campus organizations, the Leadership Academy promotes leadership development across the Hostos community. It also partners with the CUNY Malavé Leadership Academy to enhance opportunities across the university system.

The Office of Student Appeals
The Office of Student Appeals provides support to students on academic probation, students seeking assistance with administrative appeals, and students with tuition balances. An appeal may be submitted if there were extenuating circumstances such as medical issues or family emergencies, etc. which may have adversely impacted a student’s academic record. Common types of appeals include:
The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal, for students who have not met federal financial aid requirements.
The Re-Admission Appeal, for students returning after at least one semester, referred by the Admissions Office.
The Administrative Appeal, for students unable to complete the semester due to extenuating circumstances.
Note: Grade appeals are handled by the Academic Standards Committee in the Office of Academic Affairs.

The Office of Veteran Affairs (HOVA) proudly supports our military-affiliated community, including Veterans, Active Duty, Reservists, and Dependents. Our mission is to help military-connected students achieve their academic goals through a centralized, military-friendly support system. HOVA provides personalized guidance, including one-on-one meetings to assess academic needs and navigate federal and state military education benefits.
