2018 Agency-Wide Outcomes

The following outcomes were collected across various Hope House direct service programs.

• 92% of clients indicated they know more ways to plan for their safety (743/809);

• 91% of clients indicated they know more about community resources (760/834);

• 92% of clients indicated they know more about how to cope with the effects of domestic violence (346/377); and

• 96% of clients indicated they felt supported and/or respected by the Advocate who helped them (1,281/1,331).

When asked where they might be without Hope House, clients stated:

“Be on the streets.”

“Be in my car or dead.”

“Be with my abuser or homeless.”

“Probably have gotten killed by my abuser.”

“God, I don't event want to think about that.”

2018 Summary of Major Accomplishments

Hope House had a successful year and achieved a number of notable accomplishments, a snapshot of which is below:

Exapansion of Programming and Staff:

Guardian Program: With funding received from the Jackson County Community Children’s Services Fund, the agency expanded its Guardian Program from 3 days per week to 6 days per week, doubling its hours of operation from 11 to 22. This expansion also included the addition of a full time Guardian Program Manager and contract staff to assist with the increase in program participants.

Therapy Services: With funding received from the Health Forward Foundation, Hope House expanded its current therapy services to include a full time therapist to provide therapy services to children on an outreach basis.

Facilities Department: Hope House expanded the agency’s Facilities Department to include one full-time Lead Facilities Technician who is responsible for the planning, coordinating and executing of multiple logistics, maintenance, repair, and inspection(s) operations to ensure the safe and effective day-to-day agency operations.

Policy and Advocacy:

Hope House’s Chief Operating Officer was appointed by the Supreme Court of Missouri to the recently developed Combatting Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence Commission and its Domestic Violence subcommittee. The commission will focus on trends, statistics, barriers, and successes as it relates to domestic violence in the state of Missouri and locally within the Kansas City metropolitan area.
