FROM COURTROOM TO LIVING ROOM

HOPE RESTORES FAMILIES

Addiction doesn’t just affect the individual, it ripples through entire families Children grow up in uncertainty, marriages break under the weight, and generations carry scars of trauma, fear, and instability For every man or woman who loses their way to drugs or alcohol, there is often a spouse, a parent, or a child left to pick up the pieces.

That’s the world Gayla Sams once lived in

She describes herself as “hopeless, broken, dead, and numb ”

Addiction had stolen her confidence, her stability, and most painfully; her family Her children were caught in the middle, living with the consequences of her struggle Like so many families impacted by addiction, theirs was fractured, fragile, and uncertain.

But Gayla’s story didn’t end there.

Through the structure she found at Hope Center Ministries, and the transformation she experienced in Jesus, Gayla’s life began to change Day by day, routine by routine, prayer by prayer, she became the mother her children needed again And this fall, she was granted sole custody of her children While they had already been living at home, the legal decision marked more than just paperwork; it was a declaration that the family she thought she had lost was whole again.

In her own words:

“He ran after me He called me by name He said YOU ARE MINE! And everything He promised me came to pass! You are never too far gone Don’t suffer in silence! God is alive and He is here to give you freedom!”

Gayla’s husband, also a graduate of Hope Center, now stands beside her as they raise their children together. What addiction tried to destroy, God has restored.

Stories like Gayla’s remind us why Hope Center exists This is more than recovery; it’s families reunited, children growing up with parents who are present and healthy, and cycles of brokenness being replaced with cycles of hope
