LITTLE MUSIC EXPLORERS
This half-day morning program (9–11:30 a.m.) is intended for 4 and 5 year old children who are enrolled in preschool in September of 2024. This class is also an option for those who have completed kindergarten but are not ready for a full-day program.
Cost: $250 a week | Member Price: $237.50
This program aims to provide a fun and safe learning space to develop basic musical skills and foster broader development in each student. Each week is different focusing on core aspects of development in music and life that will be targeted are auditory perception, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, rhythm, and memory. Through musical games, group sing-a-longs, and hands-on craft activities, students will explore the basics of music, its expressive capability, and its creation.
Drop-off between 8:45–9 a.m.
Pick-up is at 11:30 a.m.
Children should bring one snack and a water bottle—no nut products.

ART EXPLORERS
For rising 1 & 2 graders. Students MUST have completed kindergarten to be eligible for this program.
Cost: $500 a week | Member Price: $475
Art Explorers are one-week full-day programs designed to make participants in the first half of elementary school feel right at home. Arts activities will be different each week and are based on a new creative theme, allowing for lots of exploration and imaginative play. Programming includes visual arts and music, drama, movement, games, and story time.
This full-day program is for any child who loves to paint, draw, sing, dance, and move their bodies! Students will create unique art pieces in the morning using model magic, paint, and other fun materials. In the afternoon, students will perform activities involving acting out stories and singing songs. There will be story-time, imaginative play, echo songs, circle games, song tales, classical music, and so much more.
All programs for this age group except our Dance programs occur at our 98 Hayden Rowe location. All dance programs take place at our 34 Hayden Rowe Street dance studio.
All students must bring their lunch and snacks—no nut products. No food is provided.

ARTS FOCUS
Arts Focus programs enable students to focus on their selected art forms. Instructors promote the exploration of materials and the discovery of the creative voice.
Drop-off is between 8:45 and 9 a.m.

Fine Arts Academy (Gr. 3–8)
Entering grade 3 as of September 1, 2024, through grade 8. Students will be split up and placed in groups based on age.
Cost: $500 a week | Member Price: $475
This program is based on one of the HCA’s most popular programs because it covers a little of everything relating to art making. Drawing, watercolors, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, pen, and ink.
Every week, the students will be inspired by that week’s theme. In the morning, students will focus on drawing foundations and observational drawing and learn new techniques. Students will study proportion and composition to draw various people, objects, and landscapes. Students will complete the fun with gestural drawing exercises and longer durational studies. The afternoons focus on that week’s theme, where students will learn about different artists and make work inspired by those artists and their chosen mediums.

This week, we will explore theater art through acting games, physical movement, improvisation, and scenes from the muchloved canon of Disney movies and musicals. Students will gain basic acting skills working individually and in group settings with instructors and tap into their innate creativity to help build and devise a final show. At the end of the week, actors will take to the stage and perform for family and friends.

This week, we will explore the art of improvisation, sketch, and devised theater through the lens of acting games and exercises, pantomime, clowning, physical comedy, and other group-building and reacting activities. The summer Theater Arts Intensive is designed to lay a strong foundation and nurture the love of theater for the growing performing artist. A final showcase will be presented to families on the final day.

CERAMICS
Hand building & Clay Sculpture
(Rising 3–6 graders)
NOTE: All ceramics programs take place at 34 Hayden Rowe Street, Suite 304
Cost: $350 a week | Member Price: $332.50
This workshop will focus on hand-building and sculpture techniques, giving students the skills to create functional and decorative pieces. Students will learn to build structurally sound vessels and small to medium-sized sculptures. Each week, a new theme is presented to inspire the students in their creations. Students can paint their projects but must wait approximately 4–5 weeks until they are glazed and fired in the HCA kiln to pick up their projects. Note: In this workshop, no wheel throwing will be taught.

Teen Wheel-Throwing (Rising 7–12 graders)

Come and learn the basics of making pottery on the potter’s wheel! For beginners, intermediate, and advanced ceramics students. In these workshops, students will explore the fundamentals of creating functional pottery forms. Students will focus on wheel-throwing and learn about working in the HCA’s Ceramics Studio. Includes clay, firing and glazing. Students will be able to paint their projects, but will have to wait approximately 4-5 weeks until they are glazed and fired in the HCA kiln to pick up their projects.

This program will culminate with a live rock band concert with professional lighting and sound. This program is the perfect chance to play your favorite tunes with help from the pros!

The week culminates with a demonstration for families. This program is most suited for dancers who have had at least a year of formal dance training, but beginners willing to take the plunge into the fun and exciting world of dance are more than welcome!

Dance Intensive
(Rising 6–10 graders) Intermediate/advanced dancers in grade 6 and above. All dance programs take place at 34 Hayden Rowe Street, Suite 302
The Dance Intensive is a three-week course of study, but students may opt to participate in only two of the three weeks. Students will spend their afternoons immersed in dance while improving their technique, exploring artistry and expression, learning repertory, and experimenting with student choreography.
Daily classes include ballet and pointe/pre-pointe, jazz, contemporary, acting and pantomime, historical dance, hip-hop, choreography, and more. Explore dance in a fun and welcoming environment. Dress Code and supplies required: ballet attire (navy bullet point skirt or white shirt and black dance pants), jazz and contemporary attire (dance pants or shorts), character skirt, ballet shoes/pointe shoes, jazz shoes, character shoes, yoga mat, notebook. Guidelines For Parents
Prior to arriving at the HCA
Parents are strongly urged to not bring their child to the HCA if they are exhibiting any signs of illness. For full day programs, parent should send with their child the following: lunch, 2-snacks, water in a refillable water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray.
DO NOT BRING: Valuables and/or electronics.
Food & Beverage Guidelines
All staff/students must provide for their own meals/ snacks/beverages. There is no access to refrigeration, and the HCA does not provide food.
At no time will any nut products be allowed at the HCA. The HCA will alert instructors and assistants of other potential food allergies communicated by parents.

2024 Summer REFUND POLICY
If you wish to cancel a registration:
1. Refunds of program fees will be offered (less a $50 cancellation fee) until May 31st of the current year. No refunds will be given if the cancellation request occurs after May 31st. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to the Administration Office at info@hopartscenter.org.
2. The HCA asks individuals and families to consider donating a portion of their fees to the HCA to help with the ongoing activities and operational support.
Switching Summer Program weeks:
1. A $25 switch fee will be accessed for patrons who request to switch the registration of a summer program to a different week (when space allows).
Waivers
I understand there is a certain amount of reasonable risk of minor injury associated with this program and do not hold the Hopkinton Center of the Arts, Enter Stage Left Theater, or the Town of Hopkinton responsible for any such injuries.
I give permission for my or my child’s image in videotapes, photographs and/or motion picture films in which she/he appears, and audio recordings made of him/her may be used by the Hopkinton Center for the Arts and Enter Stage Left Theater for publicity purposes. You may request for your images not to be used by submitting a formal request to info@hopartscenter.org.

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts believes the arts are for everyone and thanks to the generosity of the Dora Kishibay Garabedian Scholarship Fund and individual donations to our scholarship fund we are able to assist children, teens, and adults who might not otherwise be able to afford classes. Need-based scholarships are available for HCA classes to residents of Hopkinton and surrounding MetroWest communities.
