10 years on and going from strength to strength
March marks the 10-year anniversary of the opening of Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale, Director and Owner Luke Norbury had the following to say about reaching the milestone: I can’t quite believe that ten years have flown by since we first opened the doors of Home Instead York in 2009. In that time, we have provided our service to nearly 800 people and spent a total of hundreds of thousands of hours with clients. Our aim always has and always will be to provide support that we would want for our own families, so we were delighted when the Care Quality Commission recognised our efforts and rated Home Instead York ‘Outstanding’ following our recent inspection. Although we were delighted to receive this accolade, we are not resting on our laurels. Over the last ten years we have developed, adapted and led change in the world of health and social care and we fully anticipate that the next ten years will present even more challenges and opportunities. Ten years ago, around 1 in 6 people in the UK were over 65 and now
that figure is 1 in 5. The population will continue to age, and the government will have to respond to the huge challenges facing the health and social care system. Home Instead will continue to play its part by offering a service with peace of mind to enable people to stay at home for as long as they choose. Home Instead’s range of services is likely to expand in order to accommodate the needs of people who want to be at home, for example, we now offer live in care for clients to consider as an alternative to residential care. Technology will have a growing influence on the way we work, and I expect we will increasingly use technology to make our service more efficient and safer for clients and CAREGivers. What remains the same ten years on is that the key factor in our success is our people. At the core of our plan for the next 10 years is to nurture an amazing team of people who are passionate about quality care. Without doubt our team of CAREGivers and the office team that supports them are what makes the difference, and it’s a privilege to play a small part in facilitating the great work that they do.
