Extra-tall double tray ceilings; 12-foot pocketing sliding glass doors framed by drapery panels from Country Store Interiors; generous space reserved for art collections; and a level-five finish on all of the walls are just a few of the visible hallmarks of quality in this home. What lies beneath and within encompasses superb craftsmanship. homeanddesign.net

Much of what makes this golf course home in The Oaks Club community in Osprey unique is not visible to the naked eye. Two years in the making, the home was built on the site of a teardown and designed to fit the lot. “The owners are residents in the community and wanted to build a quality spec home rarely found,” explains Pam Charron of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, who was brought on early in the process to market the home for sale. “Some of the older homes in The Oaks are receiving interior renovations, but this home is setting the pace,” adds Charron. “The homeowner has an amazing eye and talent and knows quality.” u Above: Refrigerator and dishwashing drawers are tucked out of sight behind custom cabinetry by Albrecht Cabinets in the streamlined butler’s pantry. A wine fridge, bar sink, and Miele coffee station from Mullet’s Appliances make beverage service and clean-up a breeze.

Right: The dining area features LED cove lighting in the tray ceiling. Corbett Lighting’s silver-leafed Jasmine pendant from Bee Ridge Lighting and the quadriptych art selected by Eridel Design Studio take center stage over the dining table. Steppedback glass-fronted floating custom cabinets offer china and buffet storage by Albrecht Cabinets.

Interior designer Erin Glueck of Eridel Design Studio agrees, “The client’s taste is immaculate.” Glueck joined the team to assist in staging the home for sale. “The owners had purchased furnishings through local high-end stores like Robb & Stucky. Not a lot of what they had needed to be changed, I just put the icing on the cake, helping with artwork and lighting, thoughtfully placing items to highlight the architecture.” Builder Tom Haggard was tasked with ensuring the home was constructed with the all-important, yet invisible touches that make it extraordinarily energy efficient. “Each cell in every concrete block is drilled and injected with foam insulation. Instead of the standard three-fourths inch rigid insulation inside the block walls, the home has one-inch. Coupled with variable speed heat pumps, the result is a very green home with an extremely low energy bill,” Haggard explains. Incredibly, he estimates the home consumes no more water or energy than one that is one-fifth its size. u

Right: A chef’s dream, the kitchen doubles up on essentials: two islands, two sinks, two garbage disposals, two dishwashers. The 102-inch vent hood covers a multi-function culinary center with a gas cooktop, an induction cooktop, and pot filler. A Sub-Zero refrigerator, Wolf oven and warming drawer, steam oven, and drawer-level microwave complete the top-end appliance lineup from Mullet’s Appliances. The expansive kitchen storage was designed to be truly accessible with mostly lowerlevel cabinets by Albrecht Cabinets — no need to worry about stretching to out-of-reach shelves.

Above: While all of the home’s three bedrooms are en suite, the master bedroom offers a morning kitchen, sitting area, and direct access to the lanai. Furnished in tones of taupe with symmetry in the pair of nightstands, corner tables, and armchairs, the space exemplifies an elegant couples’ retreat.

Right: The master bedroom closets are customized with solid wood floor-to-ceiling cabinetry by Albrecht Cabinets, niche storage areas, and the same furniture-quality millwork consistent in the rest of the home.

The level-five finish on the walls and the ceiling is a technique requiring many coats and much sanding in between them for a smooth finish more often used on the plaster walls of commercial buildings than the drywall of residential. Haggard avows that he enjoyed it all. “Having owners that were this knowledgeable was nice, it was fun, there was a good team effort. Sometimes it took a while to achieve what we wanted to because there was a lot of thought going on during the project, and often the owner would come up with the best idea! It was truly a melding of minds. u

Above and Left: Dual floating vanities flank the access door to the master bedroom service hallway which houses a secondary laundry area. The master bath features an air massage tub from The Plumbing Place, generous corner shower, and separate his-and-hers water closets — hers includes a bidet. Clerestory windows and plantation shutters from Country Store Interiors can be glimpsed in the reflection from her closet’s dresser and vanity mirror respectively.

Charron is looking forward to pairing this top quality home with the right owner. Like REALTORS® everywhere she experienced a downturn in business in March, as a result of COVID-19. “But July was probably the busiest I’ve been in 13 years, with 22 transactions! Inventory is low, demand is high. There is a strong market in luxury single family homes, as people want to get out of cities. And a lot of c-suite executives are looking at retirement in the next few years. COVID has brought to light the thought that anything like this could happen, so what are we waiting for?” Charron muses, adding, “Sarasota is not a secret anymore!” n This home is offered for sale by Pam Charron, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

The study can be accessed through the living room and through the master bedroom service hallway. A wall of handsome built-in cabinets and shelving by Albrecht Cabinets provides plenty of storage and display options. Dressing the windows in the same taupe-colored padded cornices and draperies by Country Store Interiors as the master bedroom emphasizes the consistency in design.

Above: A guest house — balancing the three-car garage on the opposite side of the pavered motor court — connects to the main house via a breezeway and enjoys its own private courtyard. Arched doorways and red clay barrel tile roofing give a nod to traditional Mediterranean styling, aligning the home’s exterior design style with the neighborhood’s. Inside, more modern design and finishes give the home a contemporary feel without sacrificing traditional aesthetics.

Left: This doorway to the lanai is a narrower version of the front entry’s cast iron doors imported from Asia for the home. “The double front entry doors weighed 600 pounds per door!” exclaims Haggard. A tribute to the quality of construction, Haggard goes on to explain, “The opening is poured concrete and had to be completed over a year before the doors arrived. They fit perfectly!”

Right: The lanai boasts a sun deck, a heated saltwater pool, a separate heated spa, and an outdoor kitchen and dining area — all the features you’d expect in a Florida home’s outdoor living area. The pool is 40 feet long and graduates from 4 feet to 7 feet in depth. The planters, which are lit from dawn to dusk by a photocell, are on a drip line from a separate irrigation well installed to supply the landscaping.
