NATIVITY: FAITH & REASON Catholic School | Preschool - 8th Grade | Broomfield, Colorado

WELCOME HOME Education shapes every person into who

they are. We must then consider who we want our children to become and choose schools that have the same vision for our children. As a school, we desire our students to become good, happy, healthy, and fulfilled. We know that an education rooted in faith is the best way to achieve this. Despite this knowledge, faith is increasingly removed from the world and many former Catholics and Christians do not see the relevance of faith in their lives.

helped to engage with it, or “test” it as St. Paul tells us. At Nativity, we desire to help our students wrestle with their questions and understandings to think deeply about what they learn - to give reason for all that they are taught. Most importantly, we strive to guide students to live their faith through prayer, service and community. We want them to think and live critically so that what we teach might become their own.

Our school name, Nativity: Faith & ReaAs parents and primary educators of son, states that we confront this modern your children, you know the imporchallenge head-on. FAITH & REASON

C AT H O L I C FA I T H Faith is woven into our curriculum, and everything we do. Our formation program presents students with proposals to live out virtue in their school day and at home, and they are supported with regular sacrament opportunities and mentors. Formation. Intentional virtue lessons at all-school assemblies, discussed in small groups weekly. The overarching goal of the formation curriculum is coming to know Truth. Sacraments Available. Weekly adoration with homerooms; daily rosary time with classes after lunch; open confession time available for all students, weekly all-school Mass, voluntary altar serving. Discipleship. Weekly small groups for students to discuss the faith questions they are grappling with and what they are learning in formation. Retreats. Spiritual and communal time away in the mountains for middle schoolers, such as trips to YMCA Estes Park and Annunciation Heights.

ROOT BELIEFS FAITH & REASON. Faith is knowing through another human

person. We learn from our human history in all subjects from math to art, so as to build on it in the present. Learning through faith is the primary method used in the early years. Reason is judgment through observation. Along with the method of faith, students are invited to test and verify the truth of the content they are proposed. This process of verification, of reasoning, gives students the tools necessary to judge all things in school and in life.

COMMUNITY. The partnership between parents, students and educators is critical to our educational methodology.

SAINTS & SCHOLARS. We are made for holiness and strive toward academic success.

IMPACTING THE WORLD. We experience Christ's abundant love in our school and trust that it will impact those beyond our walls.

What Makes Nativity Unique Sisters and Priests. We are uniquely blessed to have sisters and priests of the fraternity of the missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo here at Nativity, and their presence is impactful. They are actively involed with our students and families, participating in school community life, walking with them through highs and lows, teaching classes, and even being our vice principal. Service Opportunities. All-school service day; donation drives; partnership with community organizations to serve the elderly, sick, and in need. Middle schoolers donate hundreds of hours, both with in-school and community-based volunteering. School Families. Comprised of students from each grade, family groups gather for monthly lunches and activities and journey together through their entire Nativity career. Younger students are given a "big buddy" to guide them, simultaneously giving the older students leadership opportunity. Parent Teacher Organization. PTO engages our community with special events like Donuts with Dad and Santa Shop, and supports teachers' classroom needs.

Learning Interventionist, Counselor and Nurse. We invest in having the resources here to meet students' unique physical, emotional, and intellectual needs. Specialists are here to support their overall wellbeing. School Advisory Council. Advisory group of parents to administration, to ensure voices are heard. Library. Professionally-revamped library curated with good books to support our faith and reason model. Students learn to love to read, research, and participate in read alouds. Field Trips. Learning outside of the classroom, such as the Denver Zoo, Capitol, Denver Cathedral, museums, Gold Mine and Mother Cabrini Shrine. Volunteers. We have a lively culture of parent involvement, supporting teachers and serving as role models to students. Every volunteer is safe environment trained and background checked.

CURRICULUM & TECHNOLOGY PHILOSOPHY Rooted in the richness of the Catholic tradition, our curriculum is designed to provide students with a deep sense of meaning and perspective. Central to this curriculum is the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. By embracing classical methods and merging them with modern insights, we instill a profound appreciation for learning that transcends the utilitarian approach, prompting learners to delve into the rich tapestry of human history, philosophy, and arts. Every module is meticulously crafted to set high expectations, challenging students not just to absorb information, but to contemplate its greater significance within the broader spectrum of human knowledge. At our school, we prioritize equipping students with essential modern workplace skills, particularly effective technology use. Technology enhances our educational impact, aiding in tailored education, communication, and progress tracking. However, being a Catholic institution, we acknowledge technology's limitations and potential pitfalls, like distraction, exposure to harmful content, and isolation. Thus, we aim for a balanced tech use that prepares students for life. We consistently communicate via Google Classroom and email, utilize IXL for specialized math instruction, and from third to eighth grade, students undergo a tech curriculum ranging from typing to basic programming.

BECOME A NAT When you enroll at Nativity: Faith & Reason, you are joining 60 years of history. We were the first parochial school in Broomfield, and have been serving the North Denver suburbs since Broomfield was founded. When our city was merely Main Street with a railroad track running through it, plans were already in place to build our church and school. Today, our school has grown substantially, both with facility improvements and an expanded student population. Thanks to our parish support and generous donors, we have experienced historic growth in the past year, with double rounds now in every grade, and a highly-sought preschool. When you join Nativity: Faith & Reason, you aren’t just joining a school, but also a broader parish community. Part of the Archdiocese of Denver, Nativity of Our Lord is run by the Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo, whose mission is serving our school and parish community. Within the parish, there are more than 100 vibrant ministries for formation, community, and to support you in your journey here. More than 3,000 Knights have graduated from Nativity, and we know their impact on the world has rippled. Our alumni’s legacy lives on, as many families return to Broomfield and send their children, and children’s children, to Nativity. We have remarkably high teacher and student retention rates. Our families remain because Nativity is their home and a happy, caring place to be.

We are delighted to welcome you to Nativity: Faith & Reason Catholic

School, a very important ministry of Nativity of Our Lord parish. I hope that by walking through the building, the character of our school will come to life and our mission will be evident. With so many upcoming developments on the horizon, there is immense potential and room for you! We hope you’ll agree that at this special place. We are a family: a family we’d be proud to welcome you as a part of. Fr. Emanuele Fadini, FSCB Pastor, Nativity of Our Lord
