About Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
"When my son has an appointment, his sibling is excited to come along because he knows he can go to the playroom to relax and have fun. My husband and I also get the opportunity to have an uninterrupted conversation with my son's health-care team. The boys always ask me if I need to go to the Resource Centre at Holland Bloorview so they can spend time in the playroom without me. Thank you to the Ronald McDonald House and Holland Bloorview for making our time in the playroom so fun and enjoyable." Sandy Steplock, Mother of Matheson and Zachary
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital. Our vision is to create a world of possibility for kids with disability. We pioneer treatments, technologies, therapies and real-world programs that give children with disabilities the tools to participate fully in life. Holland Bloorview serves about 7,000 children each year, with about 600 inpatient admissions and 58,000 outpatient visits. Holland Bloorview is a world-class teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. We train future healthcare specialists in the field of childhood disability. The Bloorview Research Institute is located onsite, allowing us to integrate cutting-edge research and teaching with frontline care to improve children’s quality of life.
“I think having a supervised playroom for outpatients and their siblings is an amazing idea. Times when clinics run behind schedule, parents end up with bored, frustrated kids. It’s very convenient and a huge stress reducer to drop my children off at the playroom while consulting with the doctors and therapists.” Joanne McQuinn, Mother of Amanda
