ROYAL MILE 1976 PL A INS Due to the success of Holland & Sherry’s Royal Mile 1976 suiting collection, we have developed a series of plains in the same quality, and are delighted with the results.

This comprehensive collection offers a variety of both contemporary and classic coloured plains woven in a traditional serge construction.

A serge is a well-balanced cloth that can be identified by its 45 degree twill line. This is achieved by having the same number of threads in both the warp and weft directions.

This balanced construction gives the fabric good drape and durability qualities.

The cloth is woven from a compact spun yarn. Compact spinning is a specialised spinning technique which draws the short fibres to the core, allowing the long fibres to bind the outside, creating a level, even and luxurious yarn.

The resulting high-performing woven cloth is more level in colour, has a smooth handle and improved wearability due to the lower number of surface fibres.

The cloths in this collection are very versatile and would suit any occasion, whether it be the office, visiting the country or relaxing on holiday.

Interesting Fact One Scots mile is 1976 yards making it 216 yards longer than an Imperial English mile, which is 1760 yards.
