ANNA
When Anna Cardona reevaluated her life after returning home to Houston following years in LA, she set two goals for herself – to find her own path in philanthropy and to learn to quilt. Remarkably those two goals intertwined for her when she discovered Hole in the Wall soon after. She learned of Camp through an interview she read with Hole in the Wall Board Member Bridget Moynahan and was inspired to research the organization further. What she found impressed her.
“I was attracted by the fact that this was an organization that provided not just kids, but parents and siblings the opportunity to forget the illness and just have fun,” Anna said. “Including the entire family creates a bond and shared experience beyond Camp. That’s what appealed to me. That’s when I said, I want to do this. ’ ”
So, Anna first became a Campfire Partner Monthly Donor. And she convinced a friend to teach her to quilt as well, making special blankets that our campers take home with them from Camp. Shortly after, Anna flew all the way to Connecticut to visit the Camp during Bandit Round Up, Hole in the Wall’s annual day to say “Thank you” to its supporters.
“I was very impressed by the people I met,” Anna said. “I learned about the outreach the Camp does and heard stories from the families. I was blown away by the dedication and commitment to these kids and families.”
Not long after, Anna learned about Camp’s Founder’s Society, a generous group of friends who include Hole in the Wall in their estate plan and decided this was also something she wanted to do.

“I don’t have any children of my own, so I decided to give back to Hole in the Wall in my will,” Anna shared. “Though I really hope that I will have the opportunity to donate while I’m still living.”
We are so grateful to Anna and all of our Founder’s Society members whose thoughtful consideration will help ensure Camp programming continues to bring joy and hope to children and families for years to come.
