“We are really super proud of this great result. L’Oréal is a major partner that has established its own golden rules in the field of sustainability. That triggers us to take a good look at them. Winning this prize shows that we share L’Oréal’s sustainability philosophy. And that is of course a great compliment!
y modifying existing display designs - through more compact, not fully assembled delivery of cardboard displays - shipping volume is reduced by at least half. By redesigning the floor display and making it foldable, among other things, 4.5 times as many displays now fit on a pallet. This means a considerable saving in the number of transports - and thus in CO2 emissions.

In addition, the construction is so easy to assemble that the display can be placed on the shop floor in no time at all. This re-design has contributed to the fact that instead of 4 displays on a pallet, Holbox can now load 18 displays on a pallet. On an average journey of 400 kilometres, the new design saves as much as 600 litres of diesel. This results in a reduction of 2,234.4 kg of CO2 emissions. Ultimately, this means that Holbox saved 89 trees. During the first L’Oréal for the Future Supplier Day held by L’Oréal Austria Germany, suppliers were invited to take part in a competition to submit projects addressing the themes of climate, water, biodiversity, resources or solidarity-based supply. Holbox won the first prize with concepts that focus on reducing transport movements and CO2 emissions. n The L’Oréal Groupe has been driving an ambitious sustainability agenda for years with the first dedicated sustainability programme “Sharing Beauty With All” launched in 2013. In June 2020, the Groupe followed up on it with its second sustainability programme “L’Oréal For The Future”, a transformative agenda guided by climate and environmental science that extends clear and measurable Group goals to the entire value chain, including producers and consumers.

The programme is based on 3 pillars: 1 Transforming L’Oréal and respecting the planetary boundaries (with clear and measurable objectives regarding climate, water, biodiversity and natural resources), 2 Empowering L’Oréal’s business ecosystem (which includes focusing on the indirect, comprehensive impacts related to, for example, suppliers’ activities and consumers’ use of their products) and 3 Contributing to solving the challenges of the world (this includes among others an impact investment fund seeking to promote circular economy business solutions and innovative packaging and recycling options). n
