Enormous energy price increases and impending raw material shortages

For two years now, we have all been confronted with circumstances we did not know about. The Covid pandemic has required a degree of creativity from all of us to meet challenges. However, these are now being surpassed by Russia’s war against Ukraine, which, in addition to being a humanitarian catastrophe, has many consequences for the entire economy, including our industry.

s a direct result of the conflict, energy and working capital costs are rising at an unprecedented rate. These increases are putting severe pressure on the sector. The loss of electricity imports from Russia, the collapse of Ukrainian paper production and the temporary stoppage of paper machines are endangering the paper supply in Europe.

In addition to the rise in paper prices, this also affects other raw materials:

Natural gas

Energy prices have exploded and in some cases multiplied. The corrugated cardboard industry itself, as well as the corrugated base paper manufacturers who supply it, are highly dependent on natural gas as an energy source. The first companies in the paper industry have already temporarily or even completely stopped production due to the increase in the price of gas.

Diesel

The available freight capacity has become even scarcer due to the additional lack of drivers. In combination with the huge increase in the price of diesel, this leads to considerable price increases for transport services.

Wheat and maize

Important raw materials for starch for the glue we use are extremely scarce and, as a result, their prices have risen dramatically. Our focus is on delivering your display orders on time.

Despite all the described setbacks, we are in a stable position. We therefore assure our customers of delivery reliability even under the most difficult circumstances.
