King joined the Pride after serving as an assistant coach for Mount St. Mary’s for the previous four seasons. King was the recruiting coordinator at Mount St. Mary’s as well as leading community service projects while serving as an academic mentor. While on the staff, Rhode Island qualified for four Atlantic 10 Tournament appearances and advanced to the quarterfinals in each of her final two seasons. King coached two 1,000-point scorers at Rhode Island, three allconference selections and one A-10 AllDefensive team player. T HE PROGRAM

T

he Hofstra Women’s Basketball team completed The Program, a leadership and team-building exercise this past October.

The Program was founded in 2008 with the mission of providing high schools, professional and collegiate teams, and corporate organizations with the best leadership and team building development in the country. Under the leadership of CEO and founder Eric Kapitulik, The Program creates personalized leadership development training that challenged every member of team to get “that much better.” Pride student-athletes participated in physically and mentally challenging training sessions alongside The Program team. The Program team first reviewed their ethos and three core principles and then challenged the team’s members to prove their commitment to them. Those three core principles are: we are strong and mentally tough; we don’t make excuses and we don’t let others make excuses for us; and we work hard. Following the physical portion of training, the Program Lead Instructor met with team members and the coaching staff to lead a discussion on current team and leadership challenges.
