Your Experience, Your Story What makes the DeMatteis School special to you?
Prizes: $500 for 1st Place, $300 for 2nd, $200 for 3rd
Purpose: To promote visibility of the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science and its programs through student-generated content showcasing meaningful campus experiences.
Eligibility: Open to all currently enrolled Hofstra undergraduate and graduate students who have collaborated with a student actively enrolled in the DeMatteis School.
Submission Guidelines: Students must submit a short video (max 90 seconds) that showcases the on-campus opportunities available to you as a DeMatteis student (e.g., in a lab, classroom, or other academic setting).
• What platform? TikTok (tag @hofstrau) and Instagram (tag @hofstraseas). Accounts must be public.
• Video should only include royalty free/copyright free music and elements
• Videos must be original and created by the student(s). *
• Submissions format should be supported for upload on one of the aforementioned social media platforms and include a short description (max 100 words).
• Entry should include names of all participants, social handles, year of graduation and majors. Each student group may submit only one entry.
• Videos must be submitted via to DeMatteisSocial@hofstra.edu
Judging Criteria:
• Creativity and originality
• Relevance to academic experience
• Quality of production
• Engagement and potential social media impact
Selection Process:
• A panel of faculty, students, and staff will review submissions based on the judging criteria.
• The level of engagement on social media platforms will be considered as part of the evaluation but will not be the sole determining factor.
Award:
• Top three winning videos will be selected.
• The winner(s) will receive $500 for 1st Place, $300 for 2nd, and $200 for 3rd
Timeline:
• Competition Launch Date: September 5, 2025
• Submission Deadline to Marketing Review Prior to Social Media Posting: October 3, 2025
• Winner Announcement: November 19, 2025
