The term used to describe when a bird collides with an aircraft

Coliform

A type of bacteria (CDC, n.d.)

Depredation

The act of destroying or damaging something

Dissolved oxygen

Oxygen that is present in water

DNA

Molecule that forms the genetic basis for the existence of life forms (U.S. National Library of Medicine, 2015)

E. coli

A type of coliform bacteria (CDC, n.d.)

European Starlings

Small birds with a ubiquitous presence across the United States. The feather coloration of adult birds is black with purple and green flecks or brown with white flecks depending on the time of year (Cornell Lab of Ornithology, n.d.)

Eutrophication

A condition which occurs in water bodies when there are excess nutrients present, which often results in conditions that are detrimental to the health of the water body

Hypoxia

A condition that occurs in water bodies wherein the oxygen level is extremely low

Neck collars

A collar that is placed on birds to identify them and track their activities

Pathogen

Biological entity which can transmit disease
