Wom o or SPRING ISSUE OF HOBURNE LIFE.

Welcome back to Hoburne, and I hope like us, you are looking forward to a fantastic 2024 season. It certainly feels like it’s been a long, wet and dark winter, but change is in the air, and that glorious spring sunshine is finally here.

This is our first issue of the owner’s magazine for 2024, and there is plenty to update you on what’s been happening on the park over winter and what’s to come later this year. This winter has been extremely wet, and our grounds team has been working tremendously hard in all conditions to keep on top of the park, which hasn’t been an easy task. Despite that, longer days are coming, trees are blossoming, and Easter eggs are in the shops! This magazine is very much for our owners, and we want to hear from you. If you have something you wish to share with the magazine, then let us know. Grab a coffee and enjoy reading.

OWNER LISTENING SESSIONS

King prawn linguine with cherry tomatoes, broad beans and peas, finished with salsa verde and Winchester cheese.

This delicious recipe is featured on our new Spring menu. It was created by Milen, our head chef at Cotswolds and is a light pasta dish full of spring flavours.

The pasta recipe makes 2 portions. The salsa verde will make 10 portions, it freezes well, so you can keep the leftovers to use again within 2 months. It makes an excellent dip for nacho chips!

During your visit you will go about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground.

Hobr Dobebos m mmr

1. How long have you worked for Hoburne?

a. It’ll be a year in July.

2. What has been your biggest achievement since working at Hoburne?

a. I helped to design a local map of Bodmin Moor for our guests which is going into our brochure. We designed this map because we love to tell our guests about local places to visit. Doublebois has always been a great base to travel to the coast, but many people did not realise we are sitting on a beautiful part of Cornwall with amazing views to the coast, cows, sheep, horses, old mining engine houses and relics, neolithic stone circles, which are well worth a visit. It’s also a quieter part of Cornwall so people don’t have to sit for ages in traffic jams on their way to the coast. Our guests really appreciate the local knowledge.

3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

a. I love to talk and socialise. Coming from a large family of 3 generations, it is amazing when we all get together, we don’t stop talking until the early hours. I think that is why I am so passionate about this job, it gives me the chance to meet so many interesting people and I love to give everyone a warm, friendly welcome.

4. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

a. I moved to Cornwall two years ago and have been walking around the Southwest Coast Path with my husband Phil. This is great for my mental and physical health, and it blows all the cobwebs away. I also enjoy cycling and have an e-bike to help with the hills around us!

5. What is your favourite view on park?

a. It’s the view from the golf course, you can’t beat it!

1. How long have you been a Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Since February 2024.

2. Why did you pick Hoburne Doublebois?

a. It was the look and feel of the place. We were after a park that was quiet and didn’t have lots of clubs and activities.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do whilst staying at your holiday home?

a. It’s the peace and quiet mainly. We moved from Yorkshire, so we’ve been enjoying walking and exploring the local area so far.

4. What do you love most about being a holiday homeowner?

a. We love knowing it’s ours, and being able to come and go as we please with minimal restrictions.

5. What top tip would you give to a new Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Make sure you are clear about what you want. The park team bent over backwards to get us exactly what we wanted. They were brilliant.

4. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Hobr S Mbyn homownr

1. How long have you been a Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Since January this year, so just a few months in. We’ve stayed 3 or 4 times so far and have been busy personalising it, so it’s set-up just how we like it.

2. Why did you pick Hoburne St Mabyn?

a. We love the area and have spent many holidays in Cornwall throughout our lives. We live about a 4.5 hour drive away from the park and we chose St Mabyn specifically because it is so tranquil. We like that it doesn’t have any facilities, as we like the peace and quiet. It’s great that we can be on the south coast in 20/25 minutes and the north coast in 15 minutes and be close to Bodmin Moor too.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do whilst staying at your holiday home?

a. Everything is right on the doorstep and it’s so easy to relax and switch off. We love that we can finish work in the evening and walk into the village and go to the pub for a drink. Or switch off the laptop, grab a wine out of the fridge and jump into the hot tub. Bliss!

4. What do you love most about being a holiday homeowner?

a. The flexibility to use it as a second home as much as we like is brilliant. Long term we intend to make a permanent move to Cornwall but now isn’t the right time for us. We both work from home so we can work from there whenever we like, but we can also have holidays there too. It’s the best of both worlds. We love being able to travel to our favourite restaurants and harbours whenever we like once we are there.

5. What top tip would you give to a new Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Make sure you do your homework. We found that not all parks are equal and not all units are equal. We visited and stayed on lots of different parks, run by different companies and in lots of different types of units on our quest. We ending up kissing quite a few frogs before we found our perfect prince at St Mabyn!
