2023 Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag Luncheon In May, the Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag Luncheon returned after a pandemic-imposed hiatus with an inspiring resilience-themed event. The luncheon celebrated Hoag’s dedicated nurses and the generous supporters who help provide resources for them to advance their skills and education in the name of patient care. The luncheon included a panel discussion with several of Hoag’s nurse scholarship recipients, who shared the impact donor support and peer mentorship has had on their careers. Event Featured Speaker | Ahlam Jadalla, PhD, MSN, RN, Nurse Researcher “Why have a nurse researcher in a clinical facility? Simply, because our patients deserve no less than evidence-based nursing and interdisciplinary care. My role has been focused on mentoring nurses who are seeking to update or change practice, integrate new evidence, or generate new knowledge. I also guide nursing students who are completing their doctoral studies and implement projects as part of their degree completion. I have led teams of nurses to integrate new evidence and explore new opportunities to improve patient outcomes and improve the environment in which nurses practice. You enable us to practice the Hoag way—rooted in data, guided by evidence, and delivered in compassion and competence.”
