Message from Guest of Honour

Dr Sunny Chai Ngai Chiu, BBS

Chairman Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation

People are a company’s most valuable asset. This responsibility for ensuring our people thrive and fulfil their aspirations rests with our human resources teams. Today, the HR function assumes a crucial seat on the management board to position people at the core of any critical strategy or business decision. The HKIHRM is at the forefront of the ongoing transformation of the industry. Its signature programme, the HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards, has continually recognised HR practitioners for their outstanding efforts, innovation and strategies in nurturing our companies’ greatest asset – people. To be Guest of Honour of the Awards is a true privilege. Effective people management is an indispensable capability of any leading organisation, which is why Hong Kong’s best HR practitioners deserve high praise and recognition. The modern HR challenge is evolving. Organisations today are more diverse – our people are multi-generational and multi-cultural. We must continually innovate to engage and attract the best people. With the rise of the virtual office, AI and robotics, data tools and skills, technology is increasingly shaping a new workplace. HR leaders must find ways to not only harness opportunities, but to manage change and disruption in order to unleash the current and future workforce’s full potential. I would like to congratulate all the award winners who truly deserve their accolades. I would also like to thank the organisers, judges and participants for this meaningful programme, and wish everyone another year of success.
