杜麗娘深深地沉睡……身體微微地顫動…… 似夢囈……似滾熱的潛意識……帶來身體的 不能自已:一絲慵懶,一絲興奮,一絲對自 我生命的發現……
隨即,兩個自我的麗娘款款而來……
崑曲麗娘淡若清泉而至……
花神麗娘火一樣的嫵媚,她引領着麗娘享受 着自己身體的「真」——躁動的「慾」……
夢的碎片碰撞奔湧,麗娘感受着愛的無 邊……
第一幕
第一場 遊園 驚夢
晨曦
雨煙
眾花仙隨風而歌,享受着春的拂面,品嘗着 生命的清泉……
花神美輪美奐,舒展着生命的激情,沉醉於 靈動的自然……
春香和麗娘偶然而至……觸景傷懷,春情難
遣,幽夢誰邊,生命轉瞬凋落,花殘葉落, 對誰言?
夢,絕望中的希望。生命裏的「真」只有在 夢裏尋見,柳夢梅就在眼前。柳枝親吻着麗 娘…… 湖山石畔見證了愛的表現…… 原始質樸本能的「慾」——夢的真無拘無 束。
麗娘享受着美的困倦……
第二場 尋夢 喚美
紫霞雲煙,流水潺潺,自然田園沒有她夢的 香艷。
十里長亭,煙花三月,市井混亂更沒有她夢 的眷戀。
湖山石邊,牡丹亭畔,物在人無,也無有她 夢魂兒廝纏。
美——夢的美在誰邊……?柳夢梅與她相見 擦肩,近在咫尺,真實與虛幻。虛妄的夢,

怎能化作現實的真,這又是一個麗娘的夢。
夢與夢的交織化作美的痛美的苦美的怨美的 淒淒慘慘……
第三場 入夢 寫真
杜麗娘懇請花神的自我——最真實的自己, 將自己帶入夢中:曾經你是那樣的真情誘
惑,此刻我們也該共同擁有,重溫自由無疆
愛的旅遊……
死神降臨,黑白無常要將麗娘帶走。
麗娘以身體書寫,以舞肢潑墨,留下了自己 最後一次微笑;生命的真。
感動了天。
大雪
殘片飛落,記錄生命的文字,逝去的美。
第二幕
第一場 拾畫 玩真
黑雪。
柳夢梅踏雪而至……「尋尋覓覓,冷冷清 清,淒淒慘慘戚戚……」
小花仙灑梅引路,柳夢梅拾梅辨蹤;麗娘的 「寫真」融雪見天,柳夢梅喜出望外,畫中 人夢中情依依相見。自品玩天仙美眷 。
第二場 冥判 魂遊 地府幽明。
無數的影在自我的深淵中煉獄自省…… 黑白無常帶來無數「罪人」,判官幽默判 案……人人皆有歸宿。
麗娘傾訴真情,因夢而亡,因情而終。打動 冥府眾生。
判官為踐真情,放逐麗娘還陽,尋情證實, 圓夢成真,「惡」的世界還有善的真。
杜麗娘率兩個自我麗娘「三人合一」共舞無 邊冥道,為愛而死為愛而來,生命的力照亮 了麗娘自我心路旅程。
第三場 幽媾 婚禮
柳夢梅托「畫」而歌,自尋夢中人。
麗娘尋聲而至:夢的人,在眼前正與「自 己」畫共眠,情切意綿。
兩廂見,苦尋覓,近在眼前,人鬼交歡,幽 情難耐。
亦真亦幻,超越平凡。
人鬼神共舉奇異婚禮,行走無邊。
人道,天道,地道,合歡。
夢的人,已不在,留下片片牡丹……

Far-reaching. Quiet.
Du Liniang (a girl from a rich family) is in a deep sleep. Her body gently trembles as she dreams. Her subconsciousness plays with her emotions and she awakens feeling slightly drowsy with a bit of excitement and a new awareness of life.
Soon thereafter two alter egos join Liniang as she slowly returns to consciousness. Kunqu Liniang arises as does the charming Flower Goddess Liniang, who guides Liniang to learn the truth about her body and enjoy her restless desire.
Fragments of the dream return to her while Liniang experiences boundless love.
Act One
Scene 1 A Visit to the Garden and Awaking from the Dream
First sun rays in the morning. Misty rain.
A group of Flower Fairies is singing in the wind, enjoying the fragrance of spring and tasting the fountain of life.
Flower Goddess Liniang is beautifully attired and stretches her body with passion.
Chunxiang (the servant girl) and Liniang casually arrive. The beautiful scenery stirs Liniang’s feelings, and she indulges in dreaming: With whom shall I lie in my secret dream? In despair, she wonders, “when, like falling leaves and withering flowers, life is gone, then to whom shall I talk?”
Her dream brings hope. The “truth” of life can only be found in her dreams. It is in her dream where she meets Liu Mengmei (a handsome scholar).
The willow branches touch Liniang gently. On the lakeside, a rock witnesses their love.
They discover a primitive and natural “desire” and the unlimited dream of true love.
Liniang retreats into the deep drowsiness of love.
Scene 2 Seeking the Dream, Calling for Beauty
Liniang awakes to the colourful afterglow of her dream and sees the tumbling stream and a natural world without dreamy passions. Nearby is the pavilion where she bid her dream lover farewell.
The disordered town life has no place for her.
At the lakeside by the Peony Pavilion, everything is the same except that he is missing. She remembers her bewildering dream.
Where is the beauty in the dream? Liu Mengmei passes by, only a few yards away. Is he real or just an illusion? How can a dream become reality? This is only another dream of Liniang’s.
Interlaced dreams bring pain, and, with bitterness and woe, Liniang searches in despair for the beauty of love.
Scene 3 Falling into the Dream, Drawing Her Own Image
Liniang asks her truest alter ego, Flower Goddess Liniang to take her back to the dream. “You used to be such a loving temptress, let’s have each other again and re-experience that borderless tour of love again”.
Death appears and ghosts of black and white impermanence come to take Liniang away.
Liniang’s body writhes as though brushing ink onto paper. While she dances, she smiles, knowing the truth of life. She dies for love.
Heaven is moved.
Heavy snow.
Snowflakes drift, marking lost beauty.

Act 2
Scene 1 Picking up and Cherishing the Portrait
Black snow.
Liu Mengmei walks through the snow. “I have a sense of something missing that I must seek; everything about me looks dismal and bleak; nothing I can find gives me pleasure”.
The little Flower Fairy leads the way by sprinkling plum blossoms. Liu Mengmei follows and Liniang’s portrait appears in the melted snow. What a happy surprise for Liu Mengmei; the person in the portrait is the lover in his dream. He indulges himself in dreaming about this heavenly beauty.
Scene 2 The Judgment in Hell, the Roaming Soul
The dark underworld of Hell.
Countless shadows grieving over their wrongful deeds in their own abysses.
The ghosts of black and white impermanence bring numerous sinners to be sentenced by the Infernal Judge. Everyone gets what they deserve.
Liniang tells how she ended her life for her dream love. Her love story moves all creatures in the dark world of Hell.
The Infernal Judge releases Liniang back to the mortal world to find her lover and realize her dream. There is good and truth in a world of evil.
Liniang leads her two alter egos to dance together in the borderless world of Hades. Three alter egos become one. She dies for love and returns for love.
Scene 3 Union with the Ghost, the Wedding
Liu Mengmei sings in front of the portrait. He is searching for the true love he saw in his dream.
Liniang arrives upon hearing his voice. She sees the man in her dream sleeping with her portrait. After a long time searching, the couple meet with tenderness and passion. They can no longer resist this hidden love. The mortal and ghost make love.
It is like a dream.
Mortals, ghosts and gods all attend this unconventional wedding ceremony, walking towards the endless horizon.
The Tao of mortals, the Tao of heaven and the Tao of earth come together in joy.
The petals of the peony flowers fall while people in the dream disappear.

Tang Xianzu has left us with a “dream”. For more than 400 years, his words have been interpreted. Today, we would like to enter this dreamland with ballet. With this adaptation, we wish to present the most passionate and beautiful vision; a dream that will stir your soul. We hope you enjoy the show.

Wanting to produce a score that reflected contemporary China, I attempted a multi-disciplinary post-modern style to compose the music for the adaptation of The Peony Pavilion.

創作的過程包含興奮、痛苦、摸索、迷茫、再興奮……循環往復。箇中滋味,我想每一 個經歷過的人都深有體會。這是我個人獨立完成的第一部大作品,也將是人生經歷的重要 一筆。
我最想說的一句話是感謝這些可愛的演員,這些每天將汗水撒在教室裏的舞者。是他們幫助 我完成了一個又一個的想法。謝謝你們。

趙汝蘅 Zhao Ruheng

趙汝蘅為中國國家芭蕾舞團團長兼藝術指導,中國舞蹈家協會副主席。1961年自 北京舞蹈學院畢業後,加入中央芭蕾舞團,1993年獲文化部任命為副團長,翌 年任命為團長。趙汝蘅活躍國際芭蕾舞台,先後應邀在美國傑克遜國際芭蕾舞比 賽、保加利亞瓦爾納國際芭蕾舞比賽等近十個國際著名芭蕾舞比賽中擔任評委, 並曾為2001及2007年中國上海國際芭蕾舞比賽任評委會主席。

Zhao Ruheng is the Executive Director and Artistic Director of the National Ballet of China (NBC), and the vice chairman of the Chinese Dancers Association. After graduating from the Beijing Dance Academy in 1961 she joined the NBC as a principal dancer. In 1993 Zhao was appointed Deputy Director of the NBC by the Ministry of Culture and Executive Director the following year. She has been appointed juror for many ballet competitions, such as the Jackson International Ballet Competition, US and the Varna International Ballet Competition, Bulgaria. She has also been Chairwoman of the jury for the 2001 and 2007 Shanghai International Ballet Competition, China.
李六乙 Li Liuyi
劇本改編/導演 Adaptation and Director
李六乙於中央戲劇學院導演系畢業,現任北京人民藝術劇院導演及劇作家。
編導作品包括《雨過天晴》、《非常麻將》、《我這一輩子》、《白蛇傳》、《穆桂 英》及《花木蘭》等;導演作品包括《莊周試妻》、《軍用列車》、《原野》及 《北京人》等。出版著作有《李六乙純粹戲劇》劇本集。

Li Liuyi graduated from the Chinese Central Academy of Drama, majoring in Directing. He is the Playwright and Director of the Beijing People's Art Theatre. Li has written and directed Brightness After Gloom , Extraordinary Majong, This Life of Mine, The Legend of the White Snake, Mu Guiying and Hua Mulan. He has also directed Zhuang Zi Testing His Wife, Military Train, The Wilderness and Beijing People. Purely for Drama: Li Liuyi’s Collection was published in 2001.

郭文景為中央音樂學院作曲系教授,中國音樂家協會會員。主要作品:歌劇《李 白》、《狂人日記》、《夜宴》(1999香港藝術節);交響樂《蜀道難》(入選二十世 紀華人音樂經典)、《B小調英雄交響曲》等。作品演遍世界各大藝術節和著名劇 院,如愛丁堡音樂節、巴黎秋季藝術節、荷蘭藝術節、紐約林肯中心藝術節及倫 敦阿爾梅達歌劇院、德國法蘭克福歌劇院、法國魯昂歌劇院等。

Guo Wenjing is Professor of Composition at the Central Conservatory of Music in China. His works include operas such as Poet Li Bai, Wolf Cub Village and The Night Banquet (1999 Hong Kong Arts Festival) and symphonies such as Precipitous Mountain Roads of Sichuan (selected as one of the Chinese Music Classics of the 20th century) and The Heroic Symphony in B minor. His work has been performed internationally at arts festivals in Edinburgh, Paris, Holland and New York, and theatres in London, Frankfurt and Rouen.

費波2002年加入中國國家芭蕾舞團擔任編導。北京舞蹈學院編導系畢業,學習現 代舞表演、編導。在校期間創作並演出《紅色戀人》,獲第五屆全國舞蹈比賽創 作銀獎。在中央芭蕾舞團創作的獲獎作品,包括獲第七屆桃李杯舞蹈比賽創作銅 獎的《竹夢》和《下雨了》、獲赫爾辛基國際舞蹈比賽最佳編舞獎的《回憶》, 以及獲上海國際舞蹈比賽中華最佳編舞獎的《竹》。

Fei Bo graduated from the Beijing Dance Academy, majoring in modern dance performing and choreography. He participated in the artistic creation and performance of many works during his time at the Academy. A Time to Remember won a silver medal at the fifth National Dance Competition. Fei has been the choreographer at the National Ballet of China (NBC) since 2002. His recent works at NBC have received numerous awards and accolades: bronze medals at the Chinese Dance Competition 7th Tao Li Cup for Dream of Bamboo and Raining; best choreographer at the Helsinki International Dance Competition for Memory; best choreographer at Shanghai International Dance Competition for Bamboo.

米夏埃爾.西蒙為德國著名舞台、燈光設計和導演。曾在歐美等地從事舞台藝術 創作,1981年為戲劇作品《記憶不能等待》擔任編劇、導演和設計。1982年開 始與世界著名芭蕾編導大師威廉.弗塞斯合作,為其領導的法蘭克福芭蕾舞團 設計的作品包括:《走廊》、《伊莎貝爾的舞蹈》、《沙皇也瘋狂》和《身體協奏 曲》。1988年開始與芭蕾大師吉利.基里安合作,首部作品為足本《輝夜姬》。1993年起,他擔任 歌劇導演,作品有《漂泊的荷蘭人》、《摩西與亞倫》,以及古諾的《浮士德》。1998至2004年,出 任德國卡爾斯魯厄公立設計學院的舞台設計教授,2008年在瑞士蘇黎世藝術大學教授設計。
Michael Simon has worked in performance art in Cologne, Washington and New York, where he created Memories can't wait (1981), a theatre production which he wrote, directed and designed. In 1982 he began collaborating with choreographer William Forsythe, Director of the Frankfurt Ballet, for which he designed Gänge, Isabel's Dance, Impressing the Czar and Limb's Theorem. The full length production of Kaguyahime in1988 marked the beginning of his artistic relationship with Jirí Kylián. Simon has directed operas since 1993. His works include Fliegender Holländer, Moses und Aron and Gounod’s Faust. From 1998 to 2004 he was appointed Professor for Stage Design at the Hochschule fuer Gestaltung Karlsruhe. He currently teaches design at the Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland.
