I warmly welcome you to the 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival.
Recognised for the quality and variety of its programming, the annual Hong Kong Arts Festival is keenly anticipated as the premier event in Hong Kong’s cultural calendar. This year we again welcome top international and local talent in dance, music, opera and theatre, whose artistry will delight and inspire us.
I wish to acknowledge strong support of the Government of Hong Kong SAR, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and sponsors and donors who make this Festival possible. The array of artistic talent and programmatic content presented at this year’s Festival is as diverse and multi-faceted as the city which has hosted this annual event in the course of four decades. "I live in the past. I take everything that has happened to me and arranged it. From a distance like that, it doesn't do any harm, you'd almost let yourself be caught in it...

Each instant appears only as part of a sequence. 畢業於香港演藝學院舞蹈學院，主修音樂劇舞蹈。2000及2001連續兩年 獲成龍慈善基金獎學金。2005
年獲香港賽馬會音樂及舞蹈獎學金，赴英國 倫敦當代舞蹈學院進修。曾參與多個音樂劇、舞台劇、舞蹈劇場及演唱會 等大型製作之演出。近年參與製作包括2006 多哈亞運會開幕典禮、乙城 節《舞都得計劃2008》、香港話劇團《頂頭鎚》、2009年香港藝術節/北 京紙老虎《酷》、標局《before the last second》（編舞）、二人獨腳戲《壞人三十》、 舞蹈新鮮人系列：標局《無休止者》（編舞 / 演員）、香港藝穗會「藝綻公園」《 BIG DANCE小紅帽》及Room 9 Dance Theatre《Room 9》（藝術統籌 / 編舞 / 導演）。
Lee graduated from HKAPA, majoring in Musical Theatre Dance. He has awarded the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Scholarship in 2000 and 2001. In 2005, he has awarded The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship to study Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School. His performances include the opening ceremony of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, Bare Stage Project 2008 at City Festival and Cool at Hong Kong Arts Festival/Beijing Paper Tiger Theatre Studio. His choreography includes Before the Last Second, Broke Guy, Keep in Touch, Big Dance and Room 9
邱頌偉 Yau Chong-wai Franky
聯合導演 / 戲劇指導 Co-Director / Dramaturge
畢業於香港演藝學院，主修表演，麥子劇場教育藝術總監、音樂組合「空 氣清新機」成員。近作有林澤群實現劇場《One Night in Falsettoland in concert》、中英劇團《尼古拉伯爵—吸血驚情》、Room 9 Dance Theatre《Room9》（聯合導演及戲劇指導）、偶友佳作《垃圾山谷怪老 頭》等。憑鄧樹榮戲劇工作室《39步@形體澎湃》獲小劇場獎優秀男演員提名。
Yau graduated from HKAPA, majoring in Acting. His recent works include One Night in Falsettoland in Concert with Pichead On Stage, Dracula with the Chung Ying Theatre Company, Room 9 (Co-Director / Dramaturge) with Room 9 Dance Theatre and And Then There Were None with Class 7A Drama Group. He was nominated for the Outstanding Actor award for the second Hong Kong Theatre Libre.
趙朗天 Alain Chiu
早年獲獎學金前往舊金山音樂學院攻讀編曲，師隨康拉德．蘇薩及大衛．嘉拿，亦隨艾 登．真奇斯精修電子音樂。2008年再赴巴黎歐美音樂聯會深造，導師包括崔世光和蘭恩． 哈德。曾獲加拿大麥基爾大學頒授斯古里克獎學金，亦為2009年國際優秀音樂大獎最後入 圍者之一。2011年，其編曲作品獲格林美得獎樂團Orchestra of Our Time演繹及灌錄。
Chiu received his Bachelor of Music degree in Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a Samuel Clarke Scholarship. In the summer of 2008, Chiu received a scholarship to study at the European American Musical Alliance in Paris. He is the recipient of the prestigious Schulich Scholarship offered by McGill University and a Finalist of the International Music Prizes for Excellence in Composition 2009.
黃振邦 Wong Chun-bong Bruce 舞者 Dancer
畢業於香港演藝學院現代舞系，2008至2009年效力城市當代舞蹈團，及 後獲賽馬會獎學金到美國霍林斯大學修讀碩士。標局創團成員之一，作品 有《無休止者》、《金星人呀，金星人》及《標童》。近期個人作品有 《Touch To The Bone》、《I am not sure indeed》。
Wong studied at HKAPA in 1995 and joined the City Contemporary Dance Company in 2000. In 2009, he received a Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund scholarship to attend the Hollins University/ADF MFA program in the US. He co-founded the company Biuguk. His recent works include Touch To The Bone
何翠亮 Ada Ho 舞者 Dancer
畢業於香港演藝學院，主修中國舞，現為舞空間藝術總監。1997 年獲亞 洲文化協會獎學金赴美參加美國舞蹈節。曾參與多個舞蹈、話劇及音樂劇 演出。近期演出有：《烈女圖》、《結界達人》及《瘋狂夜宴搞偷情》。 2008年編寫遊記《非洲蜜語》。
Ho graduated from HKAPA, majoring in Chinese Dance. She received an Asian Cultural Council scholarship, took part in the American Dance Festival in New York and North Carolina, and is the Artistic Director of Dance Space. Her recent performances include Saga of the Battle Women and The Autistic Genius
陳映靜 Chen Ying-ching
木偶師 Puppeteer
畢業於台北巿華岡藝術學校，後赴日本研習木偶操作，現為奇想偶戲劇團 副團長。身兼導演及木偶師，作品有《入睡的吉普賽女郎》、《抱抱大榕 樹》、《小獮猴毛毛》等。2008年參與高雄國際偶戲節。
Chen graduated from Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School and studied puppeteering at Nyudogumo Theatre, Japan. She is the Deputy Head of Fantasy Puppet Theatre. Her works include The Sleeping Gypsy and The Blessing of the Bayan Tree
陳詩歷 Chan See-lik Paul 木偶師 Puppeteer
畢業於香港演藝學院應用美術道具系。 2000 年製作《千禧年百利恆聖 景》，現展覽於百利恆； 2003 年製作十米高巨型提線木偶，破世界記 錄。曾為《天奴的眼睛》及渣打藝趣嘉年華製作大型木偶。
Chan studied at the School of Technical Arts, HKAPA. He created puppets for Nativity Scene in Bethlehem, From Tino's Eye and the Park Mardi Gras. In 2003, he produced a 10m tall marionette which broke the world record.

我們對慾望的追求，成為我們每天存在的証據、安全感的來源。
我們不停地滿足這些慾望，直到反被吞噬， 就像一些寂寞的人，食飽、扣喉、再食。
Our urges and desires perhaps reflect our need to be recognised, they provide evidence of our presence.
Or perhaps they are a source of comfort and security. We keep on feeding our desires until they evolve into a giant black hole from which nothing, including ourselves, can escape.
Just like the vulture of loneliness who circles over the cycle of over eating, vomiting, over eating...
說我是個藝術家，其實我更是一個普通人。
是地球裏的一點微塵； 是樂曲裏的一個音符； 是機器裏的一件零件。
說我只是一個普通人，我不認同， 至少我並沒有閉起雙眼過生活。
所以我在發問。 所以我做舞蹈。
I am an artist. I am an ordinary person. Merely a piece of dust of the earth, merely a note in a song, merely a gear in a machine.
I am nothing but ordinary. Perhaps I am more; at least I do not blindfold my eyes.
That's why I question. That's why I choreograph.

生於江西省南昌市， 1998 年考入上海市舞蹈學校，主修中國民間舞； 2004 年畢業，獲獎學金就讀新加坡拉薩爾新航藝術學院，學習現代舞； 2006 年獲得匯豐銀行全額獎學金，入讀香港演藝學院現代舞系，同年獲 得亞洲文化協會資助赴紐約艾文．艾利舞蹈學校學習；2008年畢業後即加 入香港芭蕾舞團。他曾於2002 年參加亞洲國際舞蹈藝術節，獲最佳表演 獎；2003年參加桃李杯舞蹈大賽少年組民間舞比賽，獲優秀表演獎；2004年參加上海青年 舞蹈大賽獲二等獎；2005年參加CSTD亞太舞蹈比賽獲得獨舞金獎及雙人舞金獎。2010至 2011年，胡頌威為香港芭蕾舞團創作了短篇舞蹈作品《雙生》及《聲．息》，均獲好評； 2011年作品《雙生》獲邀去上海演出。
Born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, Hu studied Chinese dance at the Dance School of Shanghai Theatre Academy and graduated in 2004. He studied modern dance at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore (2004), at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) (2006), and at the Alvin Ailey School in New York (2006). He joined the Hong Kong Ballet upon graduation in 2008. He won the Best Performance Award at the 2002 Asian Art Festival Dance Competition; the Outstanding Performance Award in the junior category of the Tao Li Cup Dance Competition; a Second Award in the Shanghai Youth Dance Competition; and the Gold Medals in both solo and duo dance in the CSTD Asia Pacific Dance Competition. He choreographed Twins and Sounds, two short dance pieces for the Hong Kong Ballet. Twins has been invited to perform in Shanghai.
李嘉博 Li Jia-bo
音樂 Music
生於上海，現任香港芭蕾舞團舞蹈員。經常參與音樂創作及製作，曾擔任 芭蕾舞劇《糊塗爆竹賀新年》的聲音協作。2011年4月香港芭蕾舞團編舞 工作坊中的舞蹈作品《OIOIO》就採用了李嘉博的創作《開水白菜》。其
作品《勾綫＋鋪色》也被用於上海的多個舞蹈演出。
Li was born in Shanghai. He is currently a dancer at Hong Kong Ballet and is often involved in music creation and production. He contributed to the sound design of Hong Kong Ballet’s Firecracker His choreography featured in Hong Kong Ballet’s Choreographic Showcase 2011 and were performed in Shanghai.

Kong graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. He is an Interactive Media Engineer.
李埕 Li Cheng
舞者 Dancer
畢業於香港演藝學院，主修現代舞和編舞。在校期間獲徐美琪傑出表演藝 術家獎、城市當代舞團獎學金及匯豐銀行獎學金，並隨學校出訪歐洲多 國，於廣東現代舞週演出鄭中龍作品《記憶》。2008年參演與香港話劇團 《頂頭槌》。
Li trained at HKAPA in Modern Dance and Choreography receiving many awards and scholarships whilst studying. She toured internationally with the Academy ensemble and performed in Fragments of Memory in the Guangdong Modern Dance Festival. In 2008 she was featured in Field of Dreams by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre.
Takahira Yo 舞者 Dancer
生於日本福島，四歲開始學習現代舞。在日本於余芳美芭蕾舞學校接受芭 蕾舞訓練，2002年入讀北京舞蹈學院附屬中學，畢業後即加入中國國家芭 蕾舞團，並隨團於中國巡演。2005年9月加入香港芭蕾舞團，2009年起任 群舞領舞員。
Born in Fukushima, Japan, Takahira studied modern dance at the early age of four, later training in ballet at Rika Oriental Ballet and then the Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy. He toured with the National Ballet of China then joined the Hong Kong Ballet in 2005 being promoted to coryphée in 2009.
楊浩 Yang Hao

生於重慶，由北京中國歌舞團藝術學校畢業後加入廣州市歌舞團；2005至 2007年效力廣東現代舞團；2007年獲獎學金赴香港演藝學院修讀舞蹈學 士課程；2009年加入城市當代舞團，參與了其間舞團所有舞蹈製作和多次 海內外演出。編舞作品有《男語》。
Born in Chongqing, China, Yang joined the Guangzhou Song and Dance Troupe then the Guangdong Modern Dance Company (2005-2007). After completing a BA (Hons) degree in Dance at HKAPA, majoring in Modern Dance, he joined the City Contemporary Dance Company in 2009. He choreographed Talk to Him
袁勝倫 Yuan Sheng-lun 舞者 Dancer
畢業於廣東舞蹈學校，2004 年獲全獎進入香港演藝學院，畢業後加入香 港舞蹈團。曾獲全國少數民族大匯演金獎。參演舞劇包括《神雕俠侶》、 《三國風流》、《帝女花》、《天上人間》等，並為香港舞蹈團八樓平台 《舞飛揚》自編自演獨舞《影背》。
A graduate of the HKAPA, Yuan joined the Hong Kong Dance Company. He received the Gold Award in the National Fold Dance Competition. Dance performances include Eagle Companions, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Princess Changping and Everlasting Love, and a solo dance piece Shooting the Back

畢業於香港演藝學院。現為舞者、編舞、多媒體設計師及舞蹈教師。曾於 德國巴馬海港舞團參與短期演出。乃「踢躂領域」及「NEO Dance HK」
創辦人之一。 2011 年度香港舞蹈年獎得主。主要編舞作品有：《點． 破》、《Seeing is Believing?》、《Galatea and Pygmalion》、《Passenger》、六 翻自己《沉睡的妙街》及《乘客》(獨舞版)、《時間停轉日》、《畫室戰記》、香港舞蹈 節’06─「舞蹈各自各」《天使666VS魔鬼999》、藝穗會乙城節2007《" 1 "之前的" 0 "》、 亞洲舞蹈家匯演《拍子機》、《A place for us》、與「R & T」合創之《“的的得得”— 屋簷下》及《拍．我．踢躂》。近期負責多媒體設計的演出包括：城市當代舞蹈團邢亮的 《六度》；香港舞蹈總會的《歲月香江》及微風吹的《給我一個機》。
Wong graduated from HKAPA and is now a freelance dancer, teacher, choreographer and multimedia designer. Previously, he worked in Germany as a guest performer. He received the Hong Kong Dance Award 2011 for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance. Recent choreography includes Pulsate; seeing is Believing?; Galatea and Pygmalion; Sleeping Temple Street and Passenger for Positioning (solo piece); Studio Storm; Angel #666 vs Demon #999; A place for us (Tap Ensemble); A Serpent Eating Its Own Tail; Machine; Pause; Under The Hood; and Beat • Me • Tap. His multimedia design work can be seen in Hong Kong Dance Federation's As Time Goes By; BAU's Give me a chance and CCDC's Six Degrees
孫銘傑 Suen Ming-kit Anthony
舞者 Dancer
踢躂舞表演者、編舞、音樂劇演員及導師，現為自由身藝術工作者。畢業 於香港演藝學院音樂劇舞系，在學期間曾獲獎學金赴美進修音樂劇。考獲 英國皇家舞蹈教師協會踢躂舞高級（1 ）證書及澳洲聯邦舞蹈教師協會踢 躂舞金星（榮譽）證書。2002年創立「踢躂領域」舞蹈團，多年來參與世 界各地的踢躂舞節並赴日本進修舞技。
Born in Hong Kong, Suen graduated from HKAPA majoring in Musical Theatre Dance. He completed the musical theatre training program CAP21 in New York, and is certified with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the Australia’s Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). In 2002, he founded Tap Ensemble and in 2006 produced an original tap dance theatre show, A Place for Us. He is a freelance performer, and teaches both privately and at the CCDC Dance Centre.
孫穎麟 Timothy Sun 薩克斯管 Saxophone 孫穎麟1997年赴英國衛甘遜藝術中學主修音樂及藝術，2001年獲全額獎 學金入讀倫敦吉爾德霍爾音樂及戲劇學院，隨後獲該校獎學金進修碩士課 程，2006年以優異成績畢業。曾為香港小交響樂團及澳門樂團擔任特約薩 克斯風樂師，亦是澳門青年管樂團及澳門青年交響樂團的成員；自2008年 起擔任澳門演藝學院音樂學校的薩克斯管及長笛導師。2009年創立澳門首 個薩克斯風合奏團，隨即獲邀在澳門藝術節及澳門管樂繽紛大匯演中演出。
Macau-born Sun began studying violin aged seven. In 1997 he studied saxophone and clarinet at Ellen Wilkinson High School of Art in England, in 2001 he did a Bachelor’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 2006 he completed a Master’s. A freelance saxophonist with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Macao Orchestra, and a member of the Macao Youth Symphonic Band and Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra, he teaches saxophone and flute at the Macao Conservatory. In 2009, he founded the first saxophone ensemble.
沈樂民 Shum Lok-man Lego 敲擊 Percussion 沈樂民自學成為獨當一面的鼓手和音樂家。他兼任香港公開大學、香港中 文大學及香港演藝學院的音樂導師，時與各個音樂團體攜手演出，並為廣 東流行樂壇歌手伴奏。
Shum is a self-taught drummer and musician. He is a music tutor for the Open University, Chinese University and HKAPA. He also works with a number of groups and as a session musician for canto-pop singers.

棋子總是愈下愈少，人生總是愈來愈短，於早時落錯了子，後來都要加倍苦惱地
應付。而棋子一顆一顆地去了，愈是剩下的少，便愈得小心地下。贏，固然漂 亮；輸了也要努力撐下去。
誰說我們不是一顆棋子。雖行走的路綫不盡相同，但面對生活我們却往往是身不 由己，任人擺布。人生的棋局，也是「起手無回」；但觀棋的人，卻不會「觀棋 不語」。下一步棋子應放何處，理應三思而後行。
回頭一看，人生本是一盤變幻無窮的棋局，何時當棋子，何時當玩家，你真的在 乎麼？
Diminishing are the chess pieces as the game deepens, dwindling are our remaining days as time flies by. A wrong move at the onset begets grief and a host of ills, and can only be set right with tremendous effort at a later time. The fewer pieces we have, the more cautious we need to be in making each move. It feels great to come out triumphant; but even if you are on the losing side, you have to stick it out and stay in the game.
Who says our lives amount to more than that of a chess piece? The courses we take differ, but this in itself is a painful facet of life. If only we could fully steer the course of our lives, not fall prey to circumstance. There is no turning back in the game of “life”; though unlike typical chess games, onlookers are rarely muted. Think twice before moving another pawn.
In retrospect, life has always been a game of chess, bound by sweeping changes and infinite possibilities. Do you care enough to know – or know enough to care –when you are a pawn, and when a player?
能夠被邀為香港當代舞蹈平台作編舞，實在感到非常榮幸。衷心感謝香港藝術節對本 地不同舞蹈種類之包容，亦提供理想的平台給予各編舞家作新嘗試。
這支舞從選曲與構思，除了我一貫的街舞風格外，我亦特別嘗試加入一些我未曾試過 的音樂元素，例如電子音樂與純人聲。在舞蹈編排方面，我亦嘗試以另一角度去閱讀 與感受音樂，務求能在舞台上擦出一些新火花。
很期待這支作品……
It fills me with a deep sense of honour to be invited as a choreographer to this Contemporary Dance Series. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Hong Kong Arts Festival for their openness to different genres of dance, and for procuring a good platform for choreographers to experiment with new ideas.
When arranging the music and choreographing this piece, I introduced some music elements that I have never tried in my typical street dance style, such as electronic music and vocal music. In arranging the dance movements, I have been reading and feeling music from an alternative angle, with the hope of engendering new sparks on stage.
I truly look forward to this dance piece…
鄺兆峰 Jeremy Kwong

香港舞團Smooth Boggie成員之一，致力推廣香港popping文化。主攻 popping及boogaloo，曾在香港、深圳、廣州的街舞比賽中獲得過多次 冠亞軍及四強，亦活躍於齊舞比賽，曾在動漫節Dance Power比賽中獲
Freestyle 2on2 Battle冠軍及齊舞冠軍。舞齡雖只有四年，教授及演出經 驗已非常豐富。
A member of the dance crew Smooth Boogie, Kwong specialises in popping and boogaloo. He has won numerous awards in battles in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou including championships in Dance Power (freestyle 2on2), Dance Power (hip hop group) and Waacking aint Wack (popping 1on1). He is now a faculty member of Studiodanz and actively promotes popping in Hong Kong.
李學庸 Peace Lee

熱愛popping及街頭舞蹈文化，亦積極參與香港與外地不同類型的大型舞 蹈比賽。其舞團於2010年動漫節Dance Power全港舞蹈比賽Hip Hop組勇 奪冠軍。曾獲邀作多個香港藝人之演唱會表演嘉賓，多次到各大專及學校 推廣舞蹈。現為香港舞團Smooth Boggie的主要成員之一。
Lee’s dance team won the Dance Power competition (Hip Hop group) and was consequently invited to be the guest performer at many local pop stars’ concerts. He actively promotes different kinds of dancing at tertiary institutions and universities. He is also a member of the Hong Kong dance group Smooth Boogie.
黃素亭 Alison Wong

Studiodanz之Showbiz Project的獎學金畢業生，Studiodanz舞蹈教師。
曾為泳兒、Twins、側田等多位本地歌手作舞者。2010年隨SD Crew參
與美國Body Rock 2010。其舞蹈組合G-NEX更奪得Converse Dance Contest 2011冠軍，Hong Kong's Best Dance Crew 2010之Hip Hop組 別亞軍等眾多獎項。
A graduate and scholarship recipient of Studiodanz's Showbiz Project in 2007, Wong is a freelance dancer and faculty member of Studiodanz. She has worked with Twins, Jordan Chan, Stephanie Cheng, Vincy Chan and G.E.M., and has choreographed dance numbers for competitions and annual university performances. She competed in Body Rock in San Diego (2010) with SD Crew. With G-NEX, she won the Converse Dance Contest 2011.
