The LeaderinMe process,usingDr. StephenCovey's 7HabitsofHighly EffectivePeople asitsframework, providesthefoundationofour charactereducationprogram.Thechildtailoredexamplesandresourceshelp ourstudentsdevelopeffectivethinking practices,helpingthemtoapplythe habitsintotheireverydaylives.The philosophyofthewholecurriculum correspondswiththeeducationalgoals andbeliefsoftheschool,workingin harmonytocultivateyoungchildrenin becominghealthyandindependent problem-solverswhodevelopinto citizenswithgoodcharacterwho contributetothecommunity.

Inthepastthreeyearstheschoolhas carriedoutteachertraining,curriculum integration,andparenteducationin ordertoimplementthe 7Habits intothe lifeeducationcurriculum.

Allfacultymembersreceivedthreedays oftraininginthe 7HabitsofHighly EffectivePeople in2019-2020,qualifying themtoprovideinstructioninthe studentcourses.Additionallythe principaland5leadteachersreceived certificationasfacilitators–andhave sinceledparentworkshopsaswellas provided 7Habits trainingfornewstaff.

Theschoolsuccessfullyappliedfor fundingfromtheQualityEducation Fundtosupportthestrategicgoalsfor the2021-2022and2022-23school years.Firstly,tointroducetheconcept andteachingof 7HabitsofHighly EffectivePeople intotheLifeEducation Curriculumthroughtrainingstudents to1)BeProactive,2)Beginwiththe EndinMind,3)PutFirstThingsFirst, 4)ThinkWin-Win5)SeekFirstto Understand,ThentoBe Understood,6)Synergize, and7)SharpentheSaw.

Secondly,tohelp parentslearnand practicethe 7Habits, enhancingtheir effectivenessintheir familyroles,family communication, andintheir relationships.In usingthe 7Habits, parentsandthe schoolworktogether tostrengthenthe effectivenessofthelife educationprogram.

Atthisstage,theschoolhas metitsgoalsforthe2021-2022 schoolyear,includinglaunching theLeadershipNotebooks, introducingthe 7Habits,and teachingstudentstopracticethe habitsindailylife.Foursessionsoftheof the7HabitsFamilyEditionhasbeenoffered toparents.

Educationisalife-longprocessandtheseedsplantedatan earlystageareimportantforlong-termeffectiveness.The studentsattheLongPingEstateChanKwong Kindergartenhavethewonderfulopportunityof learningthe 7Habits atthepreschoolstage, developingpositivethinking,andbuilding character.Thejointpartnershipbetweenour educatorsandparentcommunitywillbear fruitfulresultsinthefuture.

DuetotheCOVID-19situation,wehavebeen studyingonlineathomeforawhileandwewere feelinggloomy.WhenIknewthatIwouldbeable toparticipateinthe 7HabitsofHighlyEffective People workshoporganizedbythecounseling teamofourschool,Ifeltalittlebitofanticipation. Ihopedthisworkshopwouldbringsomechanges tomydailyroutine.Theresourcesusedinthe workshopcamefromthebooksofanAmerican author,SeanCovey.Beingabletoeffectivelyuse thesesevenhabitsisofgreatbenefittoselfimprovement.

Ms.MichelleLeefromAustraliawasour facilitator.Sheguidedustothinkbyshowingus videos,constantlyaskingquestions,andactively encouragingustoexpressourpersonalopinions andrespondtowhatourclassmatesshared,soas todeepenwhatwehavelearned.

Whatimpressedmethemostwasthe fourthhighlyeffectivehabit:"ThinkWin-Win". Peoplecanberoughlydividedintofour categories,namely"win-lose""lose-win","loselose",and"win-win"."Win-lose"peoplewillfight eachothertothedeathandareverycompetitive. "Lose-win"peopledonothavetheirown standards,expectationsandvisionsandtherefore havenocouragetoexpresstheirownemotions andbeliefs."Lose-lose"peoplearemore dangerous.Ifyoufail,youdon'twanttheother partytosucceed.

Ifwetakeastepbackwewillunderstandthat inordertosucceed,wemustwantotherstoalso succeed.Howcanyouhelpyourselfachieveyour goals?Itisnecessarytocooperatewithothersto achieveawin-winsituationonthebasisofmutual assistanceandmutualbenefit.Thisisthe importanceof"win-win".

Theremainingfivehighlyeffectivehabits arealsoveryimportantforus.Thefirsthighly effectivehabitis"Beproactive".Itisthe practiceofusingpositivethinkingwhenwe dealwithproblemsinlife.Thesecondhighly effectivehabitis"Beginwiththeendinmind". Beforedoingeverything,weshouldfirstset goalsandmakeplans,sothatwecangettwice theresultwithhalftheeffort.Thethirdhighly effectivehabitis"Putfirstthingsfirst",which teachesustoknowhowtosetprioritiesinour dailylifeandlearnhowtoplanourowntime.

Thefifthhighlyeffectivehabitis"Seekfirst tounderstand,thentobeunderstood".Ifyou wantotherstolistentoyouandgainrespect fromothers,youmustfirstknowhowtolisten andrespectotherswithhumility.Thelast highlyeffectivehabitis"SharpentheSaw" whichreferstocontinuousrenewalinthefour aspectsofbody,spirit,mind,andsocial interaction,soastoimproveoneselfandmake oneselfamorematureperson.Alloftheseare qualitiesthataleaderneedstopossess.

Inconclusion,the 7HabitsofHighly EffectivePeople Workshopendedwithjoy,andI wasabletolearneffectivehabitsfromit,so thatIcancontinuetogrowandimprove myself.Finally,Iamverygratefultothe counselingteamofmyschoolfororganizing thisworkshopandgivingmetheopportunity toparticipateinit.Ilookforwardtohavingthe opportunitytoparticipateinsimilarlearning activitiesinthefuture.

Participatinginthe7HabitsofHighlyEffective PeopleWorkshophasreallybenefitedmealot. Myviewsandattitudestowardsmyself,others, andeventhewholeworldhavealsoundergone earth-shatteringchanges.

Thefirstworkshopshockedmethe most.Thatday,theinstructorasked usaquestion:"Areyoua leader?"Ibelieveyou,likeme, wouldanswer"No".Butshe showedusavideotoletme knowthat"Iammyown leader".Nomatter howtheworld changes,westilllead ourselvesandlivefor ourselves.Ilearneda littlemore:somethings intheworldwillneverchange, butwecanchangeourmindset, whichcanmakeusseetheworlddifferently, andthengetdifferentresults.Thesetwo conceptsmademefeelgoodaboutthis workshop,andalsomadememoreconfident andoptimistic.

Afterwards,Ilearnedtoproperlyarrangemytime andsetcleargoalssothatIcanmovetowardsmy dreamsandachievemyself.Ialsolearntouse empathytobreakthebarrierbetweenothersand yourselfbylisteningtothefeelingsoftheother person.Inaddition,Iammoreawareofthe importanceofcommunicatingwithpeople rationallyandrespectfully,andmust integratedifferentopinionsinorderto obtainmutualbenefitandwin-win results.

“NOMATTERHOW THEWORLDCHANGES WESTILLLEAD OURSELVES

FinallyIrealizedinthe workshopthatthereshouldbe properrest.Thisrestdoesnot necessarilyonlyrefertophysical rest.Wealsoneedtobetakencare ofintermsofspirit,emotion,andeven faith.Weneedtoexperiencegoodrest inallaspects.Onlyafterrestcanwestart afreshtomeetthevariouschallengesinlife.

Thesecondworkshopwasalsofantastic.I clearlyunderstandthatourabilitiesarelimited andwecannotcontroleverything,butweneed topaymoreattentiontothethingsthatare withinourabilitiesandactwithanoptimistic andpositiveattitude.Weneedtobebraveand proactivetotakethefirststepinsteadofbeing reactiveinordertobesuccessful.

Ireallybenefitedalotfromthe 7HabitsofHighly EffectivePeople Workshopthistime.Ilearnedthe skillstoequipmyselfandcommunicatewithothers, aswellasthemethodstodealwithlifechallenges. Butmoreimportantlymyvisionhasbecomebroader andfar-reaching,andIcanseedifferentaspectsof things.Thisnotonlymakesmeunderstandother people'sthoughtsbetter,butalsounderstandmyself moreclearlyandsetmyowncleargoals.Maywe worktogethersothateveryonecanunderstand themselvesandachievetheirgoals!

Iwasdelightedtoparticipateinthe SevenHabits ofEffectiveFamilies Workshop.Beingaworking motherisnoteasyatall–balancingworkand familylifeisdifficult.Idevotemyselftomyfamily andtheirphysicalaswellasemotionalneeds,and atthesametimeIneedtotakecareofmyself.This workshopgavemetheboostthatIhavebeen needing.

Throughthelectures,videos,andactivitiesintheworkshop,Ilearnedthe 7Habits, developednewwaysofthinking,andbeganincorporatingthehabitsintoourfamily.In addition,Ifoundthesharingofthethreespeakersinthelecture,VicePrincipalChen andthetwoteachers,aswellastheexchangesbetweenparentstobeinteractiveand inspiring.Mayeveryhomeandeveryfamilybefilledwithhappiness!
