Fairy in Training

Page 1

There once was a woman named Pepper. She got married to a man named Samuel. They had a baby named Sarah, or at least that was her name while she was young. Pepper was secretly the tooth fairy behind her husband’s back because she was afraid he would think differently about her if he found out.

One night, she had to leave early to make a long trip over seas to get a tooth from a small boy in a hospital. There was a storm that night and she didn’t get home until very late. Samuel worked nights, but he got home much earlier than she expected and found Pepper sneaking through the window and stowing her crown in her bedside table. There was a big fight between them. Samuel left Pepper because he found out that she had been lying to him about all the small things he had witnessed in the past couple years that led him to be suspicious. The next day Pepper had to tell her daughter, Sarah, that her father had left them. Sarah didn’t understand what her mother was saying to her because she was only two years old.

Pepper disappeared one night and left behind a letter on her bedside table for Sarah. Sarah was now twelve. Pepper wrote that she was the tooth fairy. She also told Sarah that she had to leave and would be back soon. She was leaving the job of Tooth Fairy to Sarah while she is gone. Sarah must use the map that her mother left to find her mother’s crown and go to the kingdom of fairies. Sarah was told that her fairy name was Moonbeam.

Moonbeam had always dreamed of becoming a fairy but continuously told herself how it would never happen. Her dreams were now coming true but not in the way she wished. She lost her mother to reach her dreams. She knew she had to go on this journey for her mom because that's what her mom would want her to do if she was still here.

Moonbeam set out that day on her journey. She had to find her long lost father and tell him that her mother had died. After calling her grandma and asking for her father's address, she found his house. She broke the news to him sadly, and also told him about the letter. He agreed to make up for leaving his family ten years ago by supporting Moonbeam and going on her journey with her.

They both went to search for the crown, using the map that Pepper had left. They traveled through the woods, over a small bridge, and to a cave guarded by a dragon. The cave holds the crown. This is where Moonbeam learns that her fairy powers are starting to kick in a little bit at a time. After much contemplation about how to get around the dragon she jumped up in the air and her feet came off the ground way more than she expected. Her strength had also been enhanced. She picked up and carried her father over the sleeping dragon, into the cave, snatched the glowing crown that was sitting behind a big boulder, then flew back out with the crown on her head.

Straight up??

They then looked back at the map and realized that it was a straight up route to travel to the kingdom. Moonbeam seemed startled, then remembered she could fly! She grabbed her father and shot up through the clouds. After arriving on the front steps, Moonbeam and her father were sucked forward into the castle. The king fairy was there and appointed her as the new tooth fairy.

Then she flew out the castle doors with her father and headed back down to the ground. They used the map to retrace their path through the woods, back to the house where they began. When they opened the doors, there was Pepper! She came back!

Pepper had to explain to Sarah why she left. She left because she knew that if she was still here then Sarah wouldn't have had the perseverance to become the tooth fairy. Pepper knew that when she left Sarah would do anything to honor her mom. It was a cruel thing to do to Sarah, but it had to be done. Now that Pepper is back she explains that she is too old to keep being the tooth fairy. She is permanently giving the job to Sarah until Sarah is too old. Sarah accepts.

Samuel forgave Pepper because he knew how badly he had hurt her and their family when he left. He really wanted his family back because he had been so lonely the past ten years. He accepted that Pepper once was, and Sarah now is, a fairy. This repaid their family for what he did wrong. They were a happy family once again and lived happily ever after!
