Councilreceived32planningapplicationsin2023/2024,mostlyassessedbycontractors. Anewreal-timepermittrackingsystemandanewlygraduatedplanningcadetwillhelpre relianceoncontractors.
In2023/2024,twoHindmarshplanningdecisionsweretakentoVCAT. Onedecisionwasupheld,withVCATagreeingtoCouncil’spermitandconditions. Inthesecondcase,VCATdirectedCounciltoissuethepermitafterconditionswereagreed parties.
LibraryServices
In2023/2024,libraryservicescostjustover$62perresidentinHindmarshShire. Counciloperatesfourlibraries,threeofwhichalsoserveasCustomerServiceCentres. HindmarshLibrariesactascommunityhubs,offeringsocialactivities,internetaccess,and spacesforall.
Investinginlibrariessupportsthehealthandwellbeingofthecommunity.
In2023/2024,staffturnoverwasjustover26%(24staff),drivenbyretirements,careerchanges part-timestaffgraduatingintofull-timeroles.
TheyearsawthedepartureofthepreviousCEOandtwointerimActingInfrastructureDirectors Ongoingretirementsareexpectedeachyearduetotheageprofileoftheworkforce.
