Let it snow? Ski Team
Who on the team has the best racing suit? Tom Conley: Julian all the way. Kodiak Gregersen: Definitely Julian Lene Johnsen: Julian. Julian Faulkner: Not Julian. Lanae.
This year, the ski team had some problems with Mother Nature. She forgot to give them snow! Without any snow on the mountains, the team’s season was in jeopardy. Finally, in mid January the snow began to fall and the season was in full swing. Julian Faulkner and Lanae Rothe set the bar high early in the season placing very high in the first few races. Julian works hard all season practicing with his father Mark Faulkner, the Placer High snowboard team coach. The coaches for the 2011-2012 season were Matt Conley and Deric Rothe. Mr. Conley was pretty optimistic for this season saying that the team has some talent and they had a good chance of sending some skiiers to state. The team lucked out this year by only having nine skiiers because they had enough transportation for the whole team and did not have to worry about renting a bus. With the rocky start to the season, the team is doing very well and have had a great season so far.
What is the best thing about Tom’s hair? Kodiak: It’s Crazy. Lene: It’s so fluffy and pretty! Tom: People always think I’m Shaun White even though he doesn’t ski. I even have the ski lift guys convinced I’m him. What would be the worst part of living in an all glass house? Tom: Earthquakes. Kodiak: Having too much light. Lene: No privacy. What is the best monemt you’ve witnessed on the slopes? Tom: I was going off a fairly easy jump and leaned back too far and landed on my back. My skis fell off so I had to walk around looking for them. Lene: I accidently missed the finish line. Kodiak: When Julian quoted, “I was too busy winning to fall”
