Remember The Moon is a hair salon and intimate apparel retailer for women affected by breast cancer.

Upon arrival, customers are greeted by a residential-like setting, as opposed to an unnerving clinical environment.

Visitors go on a journey as they pass by organic display cases filled with products, go through a fitting process, and finish with a wig styling. This journey ends in a round victory hall where success stories and before-and-after pictures line the wall to inspire confidence and hope.

The point of sale counter is designed to resemble a residential kitchen island, in order to soften the space. A portable iPad connects to a discreet cash drawer through an electrical grommet in the counter top.

CATALINA COMMONS

Fostering a sense of community is achieved by following the early concept of neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is named after a local region, such as, the "Catalina Commons."

Clear and distint wayfinding is also a key element in trauma-informed design.

Ownership and individuality are restored to residents by offering a variety of studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom units. This opens up the possibility for family members and children to live with the women, if desired. Trauma-informed design principles influenced the use of exterior circulation, minature garden-patios, and a warm interior material palette.

The variety of activated and autonomous spaces creates the opportunity for all personalities to find comfort. While the front lobby is open to the public (as it connects to a coffee shop. daycare, and lease-able classroom space), the worship space, laundry rooms, and units themselves, create intimate connections. In addition, the communal kitchen, outdoor areas, vocational spaces, and loft space create a middle ground between these loud and quiet spaces.

Creating a sense of familiarity is achieved by introducing a multi-faith space. While incarcerated, many individuals find solace through religion and meditation.

By creating this space, invidivuals can re-visit the feelings of hope and strength which worship brought to them during their time in prison, therefore further easing this transitional period of their lives.

This flagship Amazon Bookstore caters to sports business and sports journalism students and faculty at the U of O. This store merges Amazon's tech-forward design standards with Eugene's deeply rooted and iconic history in sports.

Finding a balance between the architectural details of the original 1929 construction and the nature of the cutting edge and modern bookstore proved to be a challenge.

However, once a middle road was found, the project came together seamlessly.

Inspired by tracks and stadiums, the design of the bookstore has circulation that resembles a track, both on the ground floor and mezzanine. A stadium stair is centered in the middle of the store, which serves as merchandise display or event space.

The bookshelves resemble the ribbed design of the recent Hayward Field renovation. They integrate Amazon's tech-forward design standards by illuminating the corresponding location of a book, when it is searched for using a kiosk.

The Vibe Hotel strives to reignite the hotel industry by targeting their main missing demographic- millennials. By creating "instagrammable moments," this hotel is sure to entice young travelers from all over the world.

Instead of entering a conventional lobby, the entry annex of the Vibe Hotel caters to a younger crowd by offering an “Instagrammable” setting. Both guests and passersby can pop in to take a photo, which will serve as free advertising for the hotel.

By avoiding narrow hallways and designing all of the rooms to look over a colorful social lounge, this hotel will certainly draw in visitors who are looking to have fun, meet new people, and make some memories.

Being “alone together” is a large part of the millennial mindset.

By offering noise canceling study and work pods amidst the social lounge, young professionals can get work done while never missing an opportunity for socializing.

Enabling Exploration was a weekend-long art exhibit in which 16 architecture students collaborated with 15 ceramics students to create an accessible and universal art exhibition that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of one's abilities.

The Japanese Tsugite joint served as inspiration for the joinery of these pieces. This method of joinery requires no glue or fasteners, therefore ensuring the longevity of the display cases as they can be re-arranged in an infinite amount of formations.

Each student was responsible for the construction and assembly for at least one display piece. Myself and one other student were responsible for the piece shown here, as well for the design of the signage for all of the other units.

kitchen and dining room renovation was to open up the flow of the home and update the dated finishes and appliances while staying within a budget.

By bringing down the dividing wall between the kitchen and the dining room, extending a mini bar into the existing dining room, and relocating the bar-height counter, the kitchen took on an entirely new and breathable atmosphere.

All of the materials used in this project were locally sourced. Even the furnishings, like these bar stools, were salvaged from a donation center. Not only was this strategy good for the environment, but it also helped keep the project within budget.

Between the open concept, the upgraded storage, and the mini wet bar, this re enovated kitchen and dining room became the ultimate entertainer's kitchen.
