This book showcases a comprehensive interior architecture thesis project that aimed to define and suggest what an effective supportive housing facility should look like for previously incarcerated women. After nine months of research and embarking on a tedious design process, the final product is one that will hopefully inspire others to bring awareness to the issues of recidivism and mass incarceration in the U.S.A- all of which stem largely from poorly designed and inefficient transitional and supportive housing facilities. While this report focuses specifically on the female population, it is designed to be replicated to serve a male population, as well. I hope that you learn a little something about mass incarceration in America and how design can have a positive impact on this issue. Enjoy!
