A Journey of 01 From your perspective, what would be Hikvision’s greatest accomplishment over the years?

If we look into International market, the biggest accomplishment in my opinion is that we have covered more demands across global markets. At Hikvision, channel has been very well developed. So we can provide our products and services to more places than ever before. That is what makes Hikvision the leading solution provider.

02 What are the main challenges for Hikvision?

We faced so many challenges, but the biggest one, I would say, is the brand awareness and recognition.

It is not an easy task to win over the customers’ trust. However, on the strength of our hard work, our product quality and price competitiveness, we overcame this challenge and we became the leading company in the MENA region.

Security is a basic need for everyone, and security industry will keep on improving in the next few years. First of all, the infrastructure of the global economy is growing, that’s why security industry will see increasing demand. Secondly, countries are transforming into safe and intelligent operation. Recently everything is moving towards 5G, AI, IoT, etc, so by improving our technology, we can improve the safety of cities and support the competent authorities.

Growth 04 What is the strategic goal for Hikvision in the next 3-5 years? In what way do you expect Hikvision to grow?

Hikvision always follows the technology trend. It’s on the cutting edge of the industry.

Digitalization is one of my key strategy right now for project business. In the coming years, Hikvision will offer solutions for total digitalization to help business owners increase operation efficiency, help increase business efficiency and reduce the cost. We will divide it into different verticals, do the analysis, and we will insert Hikvision solutions into their businesses.

For channel business, we would like to create wider and wider product line to make sure that Hikvision is a one-stop supplier.

05 December 2021 marks the 20-yearanniversary for Hikvision, do you have any special wishes for the company?

From the time Hikvision was established, we are always committed to creating value for the customers and the society. We have been focusing on CSR and we want to do more, genuinely helping the people in need. Besides, we have also developed new businesses that are expected to make a difference in the future. I wish that Hikvision can gain respect and trust from people all around the world.

From your perspective, what would be Hikvision’s greatest accomplishment over the years?

As I recall in 2017, Hikvision CEO Mr. Hu Yangzhong, visited Dubai to participate at Intersec exhibition, afterwards we had a management meeting. During the meeting Mr. Hu told us, “Hikvision has gradually taken a leading position in the market over the past few years, but we have bigger goals to achieve, with the pursuit of technological innovation.” This continuously motivate us to improve our current solutions by implementing deep learning algorithms and the Hikvision AI cloud.

Now Hikvision has become the leading technology and solution provider in the security industry. In my perspective, this is the greatest accomplishment for Hikvision.

December 2021 marks the 20-yearanniversary for Hikvision, do you have any special wishes for the company?

Certainly, I wish Hikvision can thrive for more than 100 years (laughing), become a respected technology leader in the world, always staying on the cutting edge of the industry.

What do you expect in industry development in the next 3-5 years? And our plan in industry/ vertical development?

I think our plan is to become a technology leader for the industrial clients.

To achieve our plan, the main focus is EBG (Enterprise Business Group) solution that covers education, retail and real estate verticals. We are going to explore the market, improve and customize the effective solutions for these verticals. The solution will bring real value to our customers, and we will make our own contribution to it as well.

The Year in Revi 02 February, 2021 Announced its latest traffic product offering – the All-Rounder ITS camera – designed to improve road safety and optimize traffic flow.

The new ITS camera is designed and developed with this multidimensional concept in mind. It is Hikvision’s first camera to integrate three otherwise separate modules in one unit with no compromise on performance, making the camera neat and flexible to be deployed for demanding environments, all in an easy and cost-effective manner.

04 April, 2021 Hosted the 2021 AI Cloud Summit in HangZhou on 29-31 March.

The theme of the summit was ‘Building on AI’s Momentum’ and there was a focus on how AIoT technologies help unlock the full potential of digital transformation.

At the summit, Hikvision announced the upgrade of its AI Open Platform, which can help users to more easily create their own intelligent algorithms based on specific business needs.

Meanwhile, through Hikvision’s Hardware Open Platform, third-party algorithms can also be installed in Hikvision’s hardware devices, which brings a greater variety of intelligent functionalities to industries.

05 May, 2021 Hikvision, an IoT solution provider with video as its core competency, announced the launch of the online Hikvision Digital Showroom.

The showroom allows customers to explore core technologies, flagship products, and trending applications of Hikvision through a new virtual experience on the web.

iew 08 06 July, 2021 announced its collaboration with Monitor Computer Systems, Ltd. to integrate its Hik-ProConnect framework with Sentinel Software.

The combination provides a convenient way for alarm receiving centers (ARCs) and systems integrators to install and operate Hikvision security devices in Sentinel systems. With the integration, ARCs and systems integrators can easily connect, view and control Hikvision cameras, NVRs and alarm panels in Sentinel via the cloud-based Hik-ProConnect. Multiple functions, such as live view, playback, and event notifications can be directly managed in Sentinel as well.

August 2021 Hikvision, an IoT solution provider with video as its core competency, announced a new technology partnership with Yeastar for IP-based video intercom integration. We are happy to announce this partnership with Yeastar, which will expand the scope of Hikvision’s intercom solution and create more value for our customers. More collaboration across the industry is benefiting the market with greater variety and functionality.

Traditional video cameras provide black and white images, which can be grainy and unclear in low-light environments. To help boost security 24x7, Hikvision has created its ColorVu technology, which gives organizations high-resolution, full-color images, even in near-total darkness.

Security breaches are not governed by the seasons, by the weather, and certainly not by the time of day.

They can occur at any time, and often under the cover of darkness when traditional, black-and-white security cameras with infrared lighting are unable to capture events clearly enough to collect clear evidence or respond effectively.

Hikvision announces its Webcam debut

Hikvision, an IoT solution provider with video as its core competence, announced the launch of its brand-new webcam products to the global market. The product family currently comprises four different series – Ultra, Pro, Live, and Value – designed for various scenarios and user groups, and with bespoke feature sets.

According to industry analyst firms, the global live streaming market is expected to continue growing significantly the coming years.

The increase in video streaming among citizens and businesses in all verticals is reported as the main driver for market growth, with content creators diversifying their material and activities, and connecting with audiences in new ways. In addition, complete and partial lockdowns during the COVID-19 crisis also positively impacted the live streaming industry.

Hikvision Live webcams for live streaming The cube-shaped Hikvision Live series of webcams is designed for live streaming, eCommerce,

and gaming applications. If a product is being presented in a live program, for example, the webcam view can be changed – both horizontally and vertically – thanks to magnetic mountings on all four sides of the casing.

These webcams also offer Sharp Auto Focus, which ensures that images of people and objects are sharp and clear at all times. Importantly, the webcams’ ‘touchable supplemental LED light’ feature enables users to adjust brightness in accordance with the surrounding environment.

Hikvision Value webcams for online education.

The Hikvision Value series is our range of entry level webcams.

These have a compact design,

making them perfect for online education applications that connect school teachers and students.

The webcam comes with a builtin microphone, which incorporates advanced algorithms to reduce noise and improve sound quality.

Its wide-angle lens provides maximum coverage, with no image distortion. This is particularly useful for teachers giving lessons in a classroom, where both the teacher and the blackboard, or wall-mounted screen, can be viewed clearly in a single frame.

Easy and flexible installation All Hikvision webcams are driverfree, offering ‘plug-and-play’ installation via a standard USB

interface. This allows users to begin conferencing or streaming in seconds.

All Hikvision webcams can also be flexibly mounted on users’ equipment, on tables, laptops, monitors, or tripods.

Importantly, Hikvision webcams are equipped with a dedicated PC-based client software, called HIKIN. Users can use this software for video previews, and to configure image and sound parameters.

Notably, the webcams can be used with all the leading thirdparty conferencing platforms with video parameter configured using a simple drop-down menu.

Leading retail mall Barka Grand Center in Oman optimizes the visitors` experience with Hikvision smart video solution

As well as providing traditional security monitoring capabilities, the Hikvision solution makes it fast and easy to find available spaces, and helps customers locate their cars in the large parking lot. The system also displays the fastest walking route to customers’ cars, helping them minimize their exposure to Oman’s high daytime temperatures.

The challenge: securing customers’ vehicles and optimizing their shopping experiences For retailers, managing and securing the parking lots is critical for protecting visitors’ property.

However, monitoring and securing parking areas 24/7 can be a major challenge – especially for large retail destinations with expansive parking areas, and thousands of individual parking spaces.

These were some of the challenges facing Barka Grand Center, which covers an area of 40,000 square meters. Humanshu Mahopatra, Managing Director, Barka Grand Center, says, “To provide the best services, we need to protect customers’ cars, but it doesn’t end there. We also need to ensure they

can find available parking spaces quickly, and return to their cars quickly and easily when they finish shopping.”

Hikvision’s smart parking solution for Barka Grand Center To help Barka Grand Center maximize parking security and optimize customer experiences, the mall has deployed a smart parking solution from Hikvision. This incorporates high-resolution cameras that detect suspicious activity and potential security breaches across the entire parking lot, minimizing the risk of vehicle theft and protecting customers’ cars at all times.

In addition to security monitoring, Hikvision cameras detect where parking spaces are available and send the information to displays located at main parking

lot intersections. “The Hikvision solution allows mall visitors to quickly see where there is space to park and where accessible spaces and VIP spaces are available,” says Mr. Mahopatra. “This saves them time and improves their satisfaction when visiting us.”

To find their car, or to calculate the quickest route to their car, customers can enter the first digits of their license plate on kiosk touchscreens. The Hikvision solution then locates their vehicle and calculates the shortest route back to it, reducing the time they spend walking in the hot sun.

The smart Hikvision cameras, which cover from 2 to 6 parking spaces each, are connected to parking guidance terminals. These provide power and network access for up to 32 cameras, along with edge storage for video footage and images for

review by the security team. All data is backed up locally and stored offline to ensure optimal system reliability.

The benefits for the mall and its customers The Hikvision solution provides a range of business benefits for the Barka Grand Center mall, above and beyond parking security.

“As well as protecting customers’ cars, the Hikvision solution helps us to optimize our customers’ shopping experiences, which is a major factor in achieving repeat business and growing our business sustainably,” says Mr. Mahopatra.

“Customer convenience is a major feature, from the ability to find a parking space quickly and easily, to smart vehicle location

The ability to minimize customers’ exposure to Oman’s high daytime temperatures is also a major benefit of the Hikvision solution. “We can now help customers plot the fastest route back to their car, minimizing the time they spend walking in the hot sun,” says Mr. Mahopatra.

Each of these LED panels is one meter wide, and 15 meters long, reaching up from the floor, over the ‘arched’ entrance to the store. The panels continually show ‘artistic’ content that is perfectly aligned to the Jashanmal brand, creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and encouraging them to come into the showroom and explore.

In addition to these huge, arched LED displays at the store entrance, the solution includes three 86inch interactive LCD screens located at the cash register, the ‘homewares’ area of the store, and

in the ‘luggage’ area. Customers can use these screens to browse product specifications and color options. If a product is not available in store, customers can also use the screens to order them online.

Can you please brief us about your company and please share some of the major momentous and successful stories?

ESCO was established in 2007, and we only had a team of 5 people, we have grown since then and have accomplished our goals, now we have over 70 people in the company. When I look at Hikvision, it makes me very proud of the success that we have mutually gained. ESCO operates in 4 major cities in Pakistan and we get support from our DPPs in other cities.

For me, the major momentous always have been achieving targets. But we are proud of other successful moments as well. We have the biggest security solution showroom in Pakistan, which is located in Lahor. It was inaugurated by Hikvision’s Overseas Business Director.

Another milestone happened in 2019.

We participated at MTP Graduate Program conducted by Hikvision, in which we secured the first place.

How do you see your company`s future in Pakistan from the perspective of the challenges and opportunities?

Challenges for us are mostly domestic, due to the economic situation in Pakistan. Despite the possibilities, opportunities and potential of economy; supply and demand can be very promising, however due to internal factors e.g. the instability of exchange rate, doesn’t give us full potential. We always need to prepare for it and calculate everything in advance.

The biggest challenge that we all are facing right now is a global shortage of chip sets and microprocessors. This also affects the production capacity of Hikvision. In our industry if one component is not available, then the other components are affected, because all components combined to meet the needs of the end users.

On the other hand, the market has potential and it keeps on growing, people understand security industry more and rely on it more. Customers request new tech cameras now, including different features.

They can differentiate high quality products and specifications; these all are very good opportunities.

Business is growing in a very fast path, many sectors noticed development in the past year, despite the inflation. Private sectors are booming, which gives us potential not only in video security but also access control and video intercom segment.

From the partner perspective, what fascinates you the most about Hikvision?

Technology industry is developing very fast, things that we didn’t even think would be possible a few years ago, are already available on the market. Hikvision always stands on the cutting edge of the industry, that is what fascinates me about Hikvision. Products always get new features, implemented with new technology, deep learning algorithm, AI elements. A CCTV camera, is no longer just camera, it’s a high tech solution that Hikvision creates. Hikviison makes it easy for people to choose what product they require based on the space, situation and requirements.

How do you view the cooperation with Hikvision in the past years?

We started our business with Hikvision in 2007, we were one of the earliest partners. We started as a reseller.

We moved our way up: first to regional distributor, and then we were appointed as national distributor. We also have been a very good distributor in OEM brand with Hikvision, so the collaboration with Hikvision is quite fascinating and tremendously successful, and we have enjoyed every year, every moment of this long journey.

We are looking forward to keep on growing together and we are very excited to see what is going to happen next.

Where do you foresee about Hikvision in the next 3-5 years?

At the current phase Hikvision is doing marvelous.

In the next 3-5 years. I am expecting to see further growth in the current business units, such as commercial display, access control, intercom, etc.

I expect Hikvision to grow in all segments, not only in CCTV. As the company has potential and resources to develop further and to expand even more in this region.

Hikvision announces Hik-ProConnect integration with Sentinel Software

Hikvision announced its collaboration with Monitor Computer Systems, Ltd. to integrate its Hik-ProConnect framework with Sentinel Software. The combination provides a convenient way for alarm receiving centers (ARCs) and systems integrators to install and operate Hikvision security devices in Sentinel systems.

With the integration, ARCs and systems integrators can easily connect, view and control Hikvision cameras, NVRs and alarm panels in Sentinel via the cloud-based Hik-ProConnect. Multiple functions, such as live view, playback, and event notifications can be directly managed in Sentinel as well.

The integration instantly provides a broad support for all Hik-Connectcompatible products in Sentinel, and ARCs and systems integrators can be confident about compatibility with both current and future Hikvision products in Sentinel.

International Security Systems is a part of Almana International Holding, we started our operation in 2014. The same year we became authorized distributor of Hikvision Products in Qatar. Security industry is developing, enlarging the potential segment, and we as ISS, a very well-known and very well established company, will follow the trend.

We are seeing opportunities in AI products and video display segment, and we expect Hikvision to thrive with their AI technology and video display solutions in the next couple of years in Qatar.

The security market in Qatar is growing, because Qatar is developing very fast. Ongoing construction activities in hospitality, retail, healthcare, metro projects, luxury housing projects are fueling the country’s CCTV market. And we are extremely happy to be a part of this development. I definitely see the growth in the coming years in the security markets segments, not only because of the Qatar government but also in the private sector. We have noticed a lot of potential growth there.

It is innovation of new technologies, especially the continuous development and introduction of IoT, AI technologies and so on. We can see that significant changes have taken place compared to five years ago. At first it was mainly manual work. With the development of technology, manpower is gradually liberated. Actually we have already released some advanced solutions and products based on marketing research and requirements from schools. To target the balance of education resources, we have lessons recording, and course real-time two-way interaction solution even between different countries. Since the pandemic period last year, we released education sharing solution to support online and offline simultaneous teaching solution.
