S
enior pitcher Connor Riley repeatedly says to himself that he’s going to make a mistake as he progresses through the game without allowing a single hit for California High in the El Segundo Tournament. This continues until the last batter goes down as an out in the top of the ninth, and Riley’s teammates swarm around him from the dugout; Riley just pitched a no-hitter. RUHS became the tournament champions, with Riley’s no-hitter occurring two games before the team won the championship game on Mar. 12 with a 6-0 shutout over Royal High. “The last couple of games have gone really well as we haven’t lost yet. We’re starting to come together as a team and play with a lot of energy,” senior shortstop and pitcher Jason Dicochea said. “Our pitching has been solid as of late, our defense is making all of its plays, and our offense has been firing on all cylinders.”
