Letter from the Executive Director

Letter from the President

The PAC has come a long way during the past twenty years bringing an expanded menu of performing arts to our mountain community. From Broadway to bluegrass, chamber music to comedians, we have something for every age and taste. And this year, with the opening of our new theater, we will be able to present even bigger and better performances. A tribute to the Allman Brothers for example, would not be able to perform in our current theater. The future looks bright for the PAC and it is because of you and our other supporters. Unlike any other performing arts center, we have been built and supported from “Day One” by individuals with a passion for the performing arts. From the early dreamers Sandy Cohn, Ruth Gershon and Bill and Nell Martin who wanted a permanent home for the Chamber Music Festival to the 2015 PAC board members inspired by a dream of Mayor Pat Taylor to build a facility to enable all the performing arts under one roof, this is the people’s building... and big things are coming!

Rick Trevathan President, PAC Board of Directors

Wow! What an exciting time for our performing arts community. Every day I marvel at the construction work that has been accomplished. Each week I look forward to seeing what will be accomplished. I can’t wait to welcome all of you to your new theater. Like Rick said, you built this theater with your passion and committment to the performing arts. This is YOUR theater! As of this writing our first performance in the new theater will be on September 17, 2022 with the internationally acclaimed Bravo Amici. I promise you it will be an evening to remember! With gratitude,

Mary Adair Trumbly

Comedy with Darren Cardosa Saturday, August 14, 2022 7:30pm Tales of a Weary Waiter Sponsored in part by: Margie & Milton Ruben

Tales, Tips & Trials from a Life in Food Service Millions of people have, at some point in their lives, waited tables. Some only did it in college, or got out by sheer determination, good luck . . . or suicide. Others took it on as permanent employment. And many remain haunted by nightmare scenarios where they are the sole server in a restaurant packed with complaining patrons. For all those disenchanted current and former food service employees, Darron Cardosa has your back. His career began at a Texas steakhouse in 1984, and since 2008 he’s vented his frustrations in the popular blog The Bitchy Waiter. A snarky mix of David Sedaris, Anthony Bourdain, Erma Bombeck, and Mo Rocca, Cardosa distills 30 years of food service into dark, funny tales—about crazy customers, out-of-control egos, and what really goes on in that fancy restaurant—that anyone who worked in the industry will recognize and relate to. https://thebitchywaiter.com

A Tribute to the

Sideline

Sponsored in part by: Cindy & Rick Trevathan Hilary & Chris Wilkes

Sponsored by Diane & Ray McPhail

Allman Brothers To bring the music of The Allman Brothers Band to life 50 years after Duane Allman formed the original band, a former member of the Allman Brothers, David “Rook” Goldflies (78-82), launched A Brother’s Revival to honor and do justice to the music of that legendary group. Wherever the band performs, they energize fans with performances that bring out the essence of what made the music of the Allman Brothers Band so lasting and powerful. No detail was left out to achieve an authentic performance of the music of the Allman Brothers. Groundbreaking double leads, dual drummers, a rock-n-roll Timpani solo, and yes, even a real B-3 organ make this show authentic and exciting. The band has had standing ovations at every show they have played. These guys aren’t messin’ around! During A Brother’s Revival’s two-and-a-half-hour show, they play all of the fan favorites, including Ramblin Man, Melissa, In Memory of Elizabeth

Reed, Southbound, Whipping Post, Blue Sky, One Way Out, Soulshine, Revival, and others.

A Brothers Revival is unique in that the group has a musical director who recorded and toured with the Allman Brothers Band. David “Rook” Goldflies played in the Allman Brothers night after night on the road. His presence in A Brothers Revival gives the group a solid foundation to realize the full potential of the Allman Brothers’ powerful performances. If you love the music of The Allman Brothers Band, you will be amazed how A Brother’s Revival has recreated the energy, vibe, and passion when performing this iconic music. https://abrothersrevival.com

Sideline was formed in 2012 as a “jam band” for a group of friends that played professionally in other bands. They started playing together as a fun alternative when their bands were not performing. In a short time they discovered their own identity and style, and realized their tour schedule was getting full. They decided to take a leap of faith and commit to the group full time. The band was named “Sideline” by founding member Darrell Webb, due to its origin as a “side band”. Sideline has had different configurations over the years, but the three founding members Steve Dilling, Skip Cherryholmes, and Jason Moore led the band through it all until Jason’s untimely passing in November of 2021. Steve and Skip decided to continue on with the band in honor of Jason’s commitment to the band and love for the music. In just under a decade Sideline has achieved a list of musical accolades. The song Thunder Dan not only held the #1 spot on the charts for multiple weeks, as well as the #1 song for the entire year 2018, it also won the 2019 Song of the Year award with the International Bluegrass Music Association. Sideline has had many chart-active/chart-topping hits, including, Just A Guy In A Bar, I’ll Always Be A Gypsy, and Jesse’s Barn from the group’s latest album release Ups, Downs and No Name Towns. Steve Dilling and Skip Cherryholmes are joined by Jamie Harper, Nick Goad, Andy Buckner, and Kyle Windbeck. Each with a commitment to working as one unit to deliver high-energy, innovative, hard-driving, variety-packed entertainment night after night throughout Sideline’s lengthy tour schedule. Always seeking new breakthroughs in music, while holding to the core of their proven success - A love for each other, a love for their ever-growing loyal fanbase, and a true love and passion for the music they create. https://sidelinebg.com/
