THIS WEEK’S BIG READ: SKIN TONE PLASTERS

Plasters were first invented about a century ago, and many people have used them to protect and heal minor cuts or scrapes. However, for most of their history, plasters were only produced in light pink or beige shades, which did not match or blend with darker skin tones.

In 2014, a company called TruColou started manufacturing plasters that represented a diverse range of skin tones. In 2020, Band-Aid, the origina plaster company, announced their intention to follow suit. This was significant because it promoted inclusivity and representation for people of all skin tones.
