Bo Deh Clean-up Project We had a great day assisting Projects Abroad with the BIG Clean at Bo De Orphanage. The main aim of this project was to get rid of what is called scabies, a skin infection that has affected many children and adults at this orphanage. Approximately there were 20 volunteers from HIF, 40 from Projects Abroad and 16 from the Intercontinental Hotel, who offered to wash all the linen and clothing of those residing at Bo Deh. ‘Projects Abroad’ volunteers assisted in cleaning the rooms and bathing about 100 children. We were recruited to assist with the activities and entertainment that was provided for the children once they were scrubbed and cleaned. It was such a significant event for me having received word when I asked the Lord that day:

"Soak me in your laundry and I'll come out clean, scrub me and I'll have a snow-white life. Tune me in to foot-tapping songs, set these once-broken bones to dancing. Don't look too close for blemishes; give me a clean bill of health. God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life. Don't throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me. Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails! Give me a job, teaching rebels your ways so the lost can find their way home. Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God, and I'll sing anthems to your life-giving ways. Unbutton my lips, dear God; I'll let loose with your praise. Going through the motions doesn't please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you. I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don't for a moment escape God's notice. Make Zion the place you delight in, repair Jerusalem's broken-down walls. Then you'll get real worship from us, acts of worship small and large, including all the bulls they can heave onto your altar!" (Psalm 51:719 MSG) Exactly, I heard it as “I know you will be doing a big clean up project, and I'm in it with you! I'm right behind you and My heart is for these people!" Looking at some of the photos I'm still wondering who had more fun in the activities area - the children or the HIF’ers? I believe that this BIG Clean was more than just a physical cleansing. It has set in motion a spiritual cleansing that can only come about when His people gather to serve and pray. (by Yvette Hutchinson)
