The Right Shoes Can you imagine running a marathon in slippers? Or climbing a mountain in ballet shoes…? Or, going into battle with boots that fall apart in the sun? The following news article was printed in Britain’s Daily Mail in 2003 following the Iraq invasion by the US/British led coalition forces. Army boots melt in desert sun by DAVID HUGHES, Daily Mail “British soldiers in Kuwait say the soles of their boots are melting and their feet are swelling because they are not being given the right kit for the baking desert. Virtually all the soldiers who will cross the frontlines into Iraq in the early hours of a land offensive now have their full desert gear and boots. It is mostly the troops in the staging post camps around Kuwait City that are in kit meant for Europe. Melting boots. Yesterday in Kuwait, four soldiers pointed out that temperatures

are currently some 20C degrees lower than they will face in just weeks. Signal-ler Paul Williams, 23, from Bournemouth, had an older version of the British army desert boot, even though it was issued just two weeks ago. Sitting in the sand and lifting his feet to show the melted soles of his boots, he said: 'It's a new boot, days old, but it's melting, falling to bits.' The men say damage to their boots is caused simply by walking or standing on baking tarmac, or on vehicles which have been left in the sun”. It is so important to have our feet fitted with the right shoes. Paul gives us the following advice as we face daily spiritual battles ‘having your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace’. Today we will look at how ‘The right shoes’ have an impact on our walk with Jesus. Pastor Charlie There is no KidzQuest program for summer. Parents are advised to supervise their children. The KQ rooms will be made available and we will provide them with materials and toys they can use or play with, while the service is ongoing. Parents are especially encouraged to form groups who will take turns in handling kids supervision during the worship service this summer .
