PRAYER

Join us for pre-service prayer every Sunday 30 minutes before start of all services at all locations. CityPartners seeks to inspire people to love Hanoi, to invest into Kingdom opportunities for sharing God’s love in practical ways, and to innovate creative solutions to meet real-felt needs. We do this through connecting HIF’s wealth in human and financial resources with the opportunities to serve and give. Our strength is in creating partnerships between the international and local communities. Each month during our Sunday services, CityPartners presents one of our local outreach partners to showcase the various ministries taking place in Hanoi and Vietnam. We also take a special offering for CityPartners on that Sunday. The offering this month will directly go to support the need presented below, to help a blind mother get medical treatment for her son.

Help for Vinh

We at City Partners would like to draw your attention to a special need. Some of you may be aware of the difficulties that are often faced for the visually-impaired. This isn’t an easy journey for anyone to be on, but it can present extra challenges for those without financial resources enabling them to get the help they desperately need. There is a young Vietnamese family that is currently in a difficult situation. Allow us to introduce Huong and her son Vinh from Thai Nguyen. Huong has recently become a follower of Christ. She was a music teacher. She has total loss of vision, and has also recently lost her job. Her husband’s family has not accepted her due to her disability. Her father-inlaw even threatened to kill her, and because of these difficulties she decided to return to her hometown with her young son, Vinh. Vinh was born earlier this year, and at one month old he was found to have tumors in his retina. Vinh now has to come to Hanoi on a regular basis for treatment at the pediatric and eye hospitals. It is believed that

at most, he could have 30% sight in his right eye, and his left eye could be saved, provided he follows the laser and radiation therapy plan. However, there is a possibility that he will lose all sight in his right eye in a few years from now. Furthermore, Huong has had conflicting reports about the possibility of the tumors spreading to other parts of his body, although thankfully this does not seem to be a likely outcome. Vinh’s father is a teacher and doesn’t make enough money to pay for his son’s treatment. Many people have rallied behind Vinh’s cause, and Huong has now been told that he could go to Singapore for better treatment. To date, approximately $1,800 USD have been raised through individuals and groups who have chosen to support Vinh. Huong does not speak much English and could really use a translator, accommodation, and help getting around during her time with Vinh in Singapore. We at City Partners would like to continue supporting this cause, and we are asking for your help. All of the City Partners’ offering today at West Lake and next Sunday at My Dinh will be given to support Vinh.
