THE QUEEN ON FILM

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson worked for 15 years to bring his latest movie, Black Adam, to the screen. The hold-up was largely due to the fact that the anti-hero was not as popular as other comic book characters who have found their way into films. But Johnson has loved Black Adam’s adventures since he was a kid and the star’s own popularity was eventually able to get the movie financed. The Rock has been starring in films since his 2001 role as The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns and his movies over the two decades since have earned a total of more than $12 billion at the box office. Explaining his passion for the character, Johnson said the danger was a big part of the appeal. “Black Adam has all the powers that Superman has but Superman won’t kill because he has a code of honor and a code of ethics that we appreciate and love… but Black Adam will kill you.”
