PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School Alumni

i

OUR HI-STORY AND MISSION Reaching across 43 beautiful acres in North Atlanta, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School is the nation’s largest parish day school, enrolling 1,395 students in Grades PK3-12. We are an unassumingly large campus located just north of Atlanta’s Chastain Park and inside the perimeter. Ours is a unique, vibrant learning community filled with encouragement and ample opportunity for students to explore their talents, pursue their passions and achieve their full potential. We offer an educational program encompassing academics, arts, athletics and spiritual formation that prepares students for the challenge of higher education and emphasizes learning as a pathway toward ethical leadership and a commitment to the common good. HIES develops in students a love of learning, respect for self and others, faith in God and a sense of service to the world community. -HIES MISSION STATEMENT ii

Whatever your aspirations for a college education, we can help you get there. At Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, we are committed to working closely with each student and family to help navigate the college search and application process. 1

COLLEGE COUNSELING Highly individualized, highly successful. What can often be confusing and even intimidating for famlies, our expert college counselors can help make manageable and exciting, as we answer questions, provide advice and guide you toward the college that is just the right fit for you. Paul Barton Head of School paul.barton@hies.org Manning Weir Upper School Principal manning.weir@hies.org Jessica Ramm Director of College Counseling jessica.ramm@hies.org (404) 303-2150 ext. 291 Deidra Bauld Associate Director of College Counselor deidra.bauld@hies.org (404) 303-2150 ext. 242 Caroline Catts Associate Director of College Counseling caroline.cattsxie@hies.org (404) 303-2150 ext. 521 Rachel Shunnarah Associate Director of College Counseling rachel.shunnarah@hies.org (404) 303-2150 ext. 308 Jasmine Simmons Registrar and College Counseling Assistant jasmine.simmons@hies.org (404) 303-2150 ext. 243 2

On behalf of the college counseling team, thank you for your interest in Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. Our graduates choose to attend colleges that uniquely fit their interests, their goals for the future and their desires for a well-lived college experience. Indeed, each graduate’s college choice represents the culmination of a four-year journey through our Upper School — a journey that involves so much more growth and development than can be adequately represented by any college list. The college counseling office at Holy Innocents’ recognizes and honors each student’s individual journey while advising their progress towards college. To help students identify their ideal college match, we invest in relationships with parents and Upper School students throughout each of their four years. Alongside our Upper School deans and advisors, we support the growth of each student academically and socially so that they are prepared for life beyond HIES. The profiles included here represent only a few of the many diverse outcomes enjoyed by our graduates. Think of each example not as a road map to follow, but instead as a glimpse into a uniquely personal journey traveled to a uniquely personal destination. There are many different ways to explore the Upper School, just as there are many different paths to one’s best-fit college. I encourage you to discover your own journey toward college as a student at Holy Innocents’. Jessica Ramm Director of College Counseling

ABOUT THE PROFILES As you embark on your school search, we’d like to introduce you to some of our graduates and their student experience in the HIES Upper School. Our Portrait of a Graduate booklet features detailed student profiles of several recent HIES graduates, so that you may learn about student success at HIES and how we prepare students for college and beyond. We have highlighted course summaries over four years of Upper School, extracurricular involvement, college acceptances and matriculations. You will gain an understanding of the curricular choices some of our alumni have made, the wide array of experiences HIES students have available to them outside of the classroom and an at-a-glance, one page primer of an Upper School career. Journey with some of our graduates and discover what awaits you at HIES.
