We've been a favorite at HIES for over 10 years! Playball addresses the fundamental development of children by combining fitness, active engagement, motor development, agility, concentration, balance, confidence, social and life skills, while having FUN and in a non-competitive Sports environment. Playball covers the foundation for Sports focusing on Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Hockey, as well as Playball games. Class includes a floor stretch, center “barre” and across the floor steps. Students will increase their musicality and movement while incorporating ballet steps and positions through imagery and fun ballet activities. This class is like Miss Ayana's ballet with an emphasis on fun activities, like unicorn party, animal action, and freeze dance.

We cover all of the USAG level 1 and some level 2 skills on all apparatuses. Balance beam, Uneven bars, Floor Exercise and Vault. Returning students will begin to move toward more skill combinations as well as begin mastering and refining skills as they continue to practice. Fun will be had by all!
Soccer Shots Grades: PK-3-K Time: 3:00-3:45 pm First Day: February 8th Last Day: May 2nd Days of no class: March 7th Price: $320 Location: Primary School Description: Soccer Shots is a fun and engaging instructional soccer class for all ages! Whether it's a child's first experience with soccer or they're ready for the big leagues, Soccer Shots works for everyone. Our age-appropriate curriculum focuses on fun learning, using themed games and activities to teach students soccer skills and concepts that will carry them through their soccer career. Each week our coaches will focus on a new skill or fundamental concept of the game of soccer in a way that makes sense for all students, while teaching the most important life lessons such as respect, teamwork, honesty, integrity and more! We'll play scrimmages at the end of each week to put everything we've practiced to the test. Though we don't focus on competition, we do teach our Soccer Shots friends about the importance of good sportsmanship whether we win or lose. We hope you join us in all the fun on Soccer Island!

Join Sensei Will as he teaches the ancient Japanese martial art of Karate. Students will have the opportunity to not only partake in activities that will help increase their strength, agility, & balance but will also learn the importance of respect, teamwork, & patience. The goals of this class are to provide a fun & active setting in which students learn self-defense, self-control & self-discipline. Note: all students are required to wear a karate Gi (karate uniform) for the class. You may order a karate uniform through Sensei Will if your student does not own one.

With basic shapes and imagination, children will be able to use independent thought to inspire complex thinking. The group will have weekly projects that encourage community, creativity, and environment. Our little Architects will create playrooms, bridges, parks, zoos, neighborhoods, buildings, homes, gardens, and more! This class will touch on math and structural engineering. This is a great class to strengthen eye and hand coordination, creativity, and writing!

Spa Day with Ms. Spurger Date: February 23rd Grades: PK4-K Time: 3:00 pm-5:00 pm Price: $60 Location: Primary School Description: Enjoy an afternoon of pampering with Ms. Spurger! Our Spa Day will focus on making us feel good inside and out! We will start with mindfulness and breathing exercises and then indulge in facials and manicures. We will also have the opportunity to make our own lip gloss and bath bombs to keep the relaxation going at home!

In this engaging program, you'll learn how to interact with AI by simply talking to it, uncovering the magic behind how AI "thinks." Students will explore their creativity using AI to craft pictures and stories, discover the wide range of applications for AI, and gain the skills to use this cutting-edge technology responsibly. You’ll be introduced to coding by creating video games and chatbots with AI-generated content. This course will empower scholars with AI skills that are valuable today and will shape their future! Note: Computers or Chromebooks are needed for the class.
Lower School Class Offerings Tuesday Classes Kids TV Jr. Grades: 1st-2nd Time: 3:45-4:45 pm First Day: February 6th Last Day: April 30th Days of no class: March 5th Price: $310 Location: Lower School Description: During Kids TV Jr., students in 1st - 2nd grades will learn the basics of camera and acting for the camera. Kids will practice camera foundations such as zoom, focus, wide shot, medium shot, and close-ups as well as practice how to perform key emotions and control over voice, body, and face in front of the camera. Then, the kids will work in groups to create various small projects for the semester such as a talk show and silent film.

Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineerdesigned projects. Projects are rotated seasonally to ensure that even returning students get a new experience, so join us to design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.
Lower School Class Offerings Fashion Design Parts 1 & 2 Grades: 1st-5th Time: 3:45-4:45 pm First Day: February 6th Last Day: April 30th Days of no class: March 5th Price: $395 Location: Lower School Description: Fashion Design Part 1 Fashion Illustration Students will spend 4 weeks learning how to draw fashion figures by discussing body proportions. We will then discuss drawing clothing details starting with shirt neckline, collars, sleeves, and more. All students will learn about the various details of clothing and will begin weekly assignments based on fun themes. This class will give students the opportunity to learn about design inspiration, color story, and design presentation. Students will then make the design during the second half of the semester. During the second part of the semester, fashion Sewing Students will select a design and will make it. Students will learn how to use a sewing machine and learn basic sewing construction while making their own designs.
Find the Wild with Blue Heron Nature Preserve! Grades: 1st-5th Time: 3:45-4:45 pm First Day: February 6th Last Day: April 30th Days of no class: March 5th Price: $345 Location: Lower School Description: Come explore your school's backyard with Blue Heron! A Blue Heron Educator will help your children uncover their own curiosities. By spending hands-on time in nature, children will learn to be more empathetic towards living things, as well as build their own scientific understanding of the natural world. Students will have an opportunity to use their STEAM skills to collaborate and problem-solve as they discover, observe, and experiment in the outdoors!
Lower School Class Offerings Graphic Design Grades: 3rd-5th Time: 3:45-4:45 pm First Day: February 6th Last Day: April 30th Days of no class: March 5th Price: $330 Location: Lower School Description: Interested in drawing, art, or design? In this class, you’ll learn how to use your doodling skills for real by doing design projects for local nonprofits or small businesses. You will learn how to make professional posters and art that people want to pay for, and you’ll ultimately design posters and ads for real organizations with good causes. Our students' work has been used in ads and online Instagram posts by the Special Olympics, Martha's Kitchen, and local shelters. Note: Students will need a laptop or Chromebook for this class.

Students will adopt and name their plush horse and learn the anatomy and maintenance of a horse. They will also learn basic horse nutrition, riding styles, gaits and roleplay and basic key responsibilities of an equine veterinarian.

Grades: 3rd-5th Time: 3:30-5:00 pm First Day: February 7th Last Day: May 1st Price: $295 Location: Lower School Art Room Description: Throughout this semester, we will get to extend our time together creating art outside the LS art classes. During each class we will spend time creating art and learning about the history behind the pieces we're making. We will have fun creating art with drawing, painting, ceramics, paper mache, oil pastels, watercolor, and mixed media.

We will create a Pretzel Pillow, Stuffed Turtle, Pencil Pouch, and hat, along with other fun projects. All projects change per semester and may change at the discretion of the instructor. This is a great class to practice focus, patience, enhance creativity, and build self-confidence.

In this Technology+ Program by STEM Velocity for Upper Elementary Students, you will acquire fundamental skills in Drone Piloting, Drone Maintenance, and Robotic Automation. Learn about applicable laws on drone flying to prepare you for the FAA Drone Certificate. Then, take it to the next level as you will also learn valuable software skills to automate Drones and Robots to complete tasks safely and autonomously.

In the case of rain or extremely low temperatures, students will be indoors or underneath overhangs if space allows. Classes take place once a week and are one hour and 15 minutes long.
