CHOIR 2000: GOOD MUSIC ON YOUR DOORSTEP

HISTON FEAST 2009 RAISES £11,000 FOR VILLAGE Following A very successful Feast Week in July, the Feast Committee is delighted that over £11,000, which includes a generous donation from the Open Gardens Committee, will be available to distribute to local organisations and groups. Each event in 2009 raised more funds than ever before, thanks to the hard work of the Committee and the generosity of the local community. A presentation evening will be held on Tuesday, 27 October at the Stable Rooms in Histon, and recipients will be invited to send representatives to receive cheques from the Feast Committee. Amongst the 16 recipients are the Histon and Impington Courier and the Cub Scouts, and the Committee will make the usual donations to Magpas and the Minibus Replacement Fund. The Feast Committee is also pleased to announce that a donation of £5000 will be made to the project for the improvement of the children’s play area at the Impington Recreation Ground. The committee fully supports the project for local children and is keen to see the area upgraded. A full list of organisations receiving cheques from the Feast Committee can be found on the Feast web

10k Run Round Jesus Green to Raise Funds for Cancer Research UK Steve Morris, of St. Audrey’s Close, Histon, will be taking part in the 10k run round Jesus Green in Cambridge on October 18th to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. This is in spite of having recently completed over five months of gruelling treatment for prostate cancer, ending with two months of daily radiotherapy at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Steve hopes to be given the good news that his treatment has succeeded just before the run. He decided to take part in the event to give himself a positive focus during the treatment, and also to help others beat cancer in all its forms. Steve says, “My treatment at Addenbrooke’s was exemplary and all the team in the radiotherapy department were incredibly supportive and totally professional. I couldn’t have had better care.” If you would like to donate to this worthy cause you can do so on Steve’s web page at: www.run10ksponsorme.org/stevemorris5.

site - www.histon-feast.co.uk, and the Feast Committee accounts will be published on the web site at the end of the financial year (31 December 2009). Also on the web site are photographs and information about Feast Week. We are very grateful to everybody who supported us throughout the week and helped us to raise such a

record-breaking amount. We shall be distributing a feedback form throughout Histon and Impington in order to learn the views of local people with regard to Feast Week this year, and to ask for suggestions on improvements or new ideas for 2010. We are always looking for additional volunteers to join our com-

mittee or to become a Friend of the Feast. If you are looking for a new interest, or wish to make new friends, contact us via our website and we will be happy to talk to you.
