CONGRATULATIONS TO ANDREW BULLEN ON COMPLETING IRONMAN 70.3 MALLORCA

Qualitas Compliance’s Managing Building Regulation Consultant, Andrew Bullen, recently completed IRONMAN 70.3 in AlcúdiaMallorca!
With less than a year to prepare and by his own admission, never being particularly sporty, Andrew took on this incredible challenge. While he occasionally cycled, (usually on an e-bike), preferred walking over running, and typically swam at his local leisure centre, he committed himself fully to the training required.
The IRONMAN 70.3 is no small feat. It involves a 1.2-mile open water swim in the Bay of Alcúdia, a 56-mile bike ride including a tough climb to Coll de Femenia at 576m above sea level, and finishes with a 13.1-mile run.
To prepare, Andrew turned to a friend and former schoolmate, now Personal Trainer, Rachel Hurst of Body Planners in Sheffield. Alongside Jake Cook of JC-Tri, they supported Andrew through his training journey to get him ready for the gruelling event. Thanks to their guidance and encouragement and Andrew’s determination, he completed the race in 8 hours and 9 minutes. Congratulations Andrew, on this fantastic achievement!

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK:
OVER 2 MILLION STEPS FOR CHARITY
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we launched an internal Walking Challenge, encouraging colleagues to take time out, move more, and reconnect with the simple yet powerful act of walking.
Walking has been shown to reduce stress, lift your mood, and improve focus, making it a valuable tool for supporting mental health in our daily lives. By taking even a short walk each day, we can create space to pause, reflect, and reset. The challenge served as a reminder of how small, mindful actions like walking, can have a meaningful impact on our wellbeing, both mentally and physically.
In total, we collectively walked an incredible 2,194,836 steps, covering approximately 1,755 kilometres. To put that into perspective, that’s the equivalent of completing over 41 marathons, an outstanding effort from everyone involved. As a reward for their fantastic efforts, the winning team received a £200 donation to a charity of their choice, with the second, third, and fourth place teams receiving £150, £100, and £50 respectively.
1st Place: Pace of Mind – 636,541 steps
Charity: 2Wish, supporting those affected by the sudden death of young people.
2nd Place: I C A Little Silhouetto of a (Walker) –580,977 steps
Charity: Prostate Cancer UK, funding vital research to help stop prostate cancer.
3rd Place: Souls Are on Fire – 568,855 steps
Charity: SANDS, working to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families.

4th Place: The Strolling Stones – 408,463 steps
Charity: UK Sepsis Trust, committed to ending preventable deaths and improving outcomes for sepsis survivors.
A huge well done to everyone who took part, your enthusiasm, dedication, and team spirit made this challenge such a success!
