What college do you plan to attend?
I plan on attending the University of Florida because they have a top-tier computer science program.
What other colleges were you accepted to?
I was also accepted into Georgia Tech, University of Texas at Austin and Florida State University.
What are your goals for college and your future? What do you wish to achieve? I want to major in computer science and make a difference in the world using technology.
What extracurricular activities did you participate in?
I played football and lacrosse all four years, varsity football my last two years and varsity lacrosse my last three. I participated in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Best Buddies, Spanish Club and Interact Club.
What does it mean to you to be one of the top students in your class? It feels pretty good for all of my hard work to pay off.
What is your favorite memory from Boone?
5.45 GPA What college do you plan to attend? And why did you choose it?
I will be attending the University of Central Florida because it has one of the top programs in the field I plan to study and they offered me a full tuition scholarship. I like the idea of staying in town so that I’m close to family and can continue my dance training, both of which are important to me.
What are your goals for college and your future?
I plan to major in communication sciences and disorders, and then attend graduate school to become a licensed speech and language pathologist.
My favorite memory from Boone was rolling off the sideline to substitute off in lacrosse.
What was one of the most valuable lessons you learned throughout high school?
The most valuable lesson I learned in high school was time management. Managing your time effectively is one of the most important skills in life, and I feel like I learned a lot about it during my time in high school.

What extracurricular activities did you participate in?
I’ve attended a pre-professional dance program at Orlando Ballet, with an intense schedule six days per week, throughout my four years at Boone. My dance training takes up a lot of time, but I was also able to be a member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.
What does it mean to you to be one of the top students in your class? I feel incredibly honored and proud to receive this recognition. There have definitely been stressful moments these last few years, so it’s highly rewarding to see that my efforts were worthwhile.
What is your favorite memory from Boone? Being featured in the yearbook for my dancing.
What was one of the most valuable lessons you learned throughout high school?
I would say I learned the importance of remaining true to myself and my values without being influenced by others.
What are you most looking forward to in college?
I’m eager to meet like-minded individuals, with whom I can develop lifelong friendships.
What is your advice to incoming students?
Don’t let the pressures of high school steer you away from your goals.

Although students missed out on a homecoming dance, SGA still wanted students to experience a modificed homecoming court. Students voted and presented the court in April at a flag football game. “SGA aimed to make the court experience as authentic as possible for the court members so they didn’t feel like their experience was cut short. We still had our traditional court presentation on the field with sashes and flowers and boutonnieres for each court member, but we had to make modifications to comply with the CDC recommendations,” Student Body co-sponsor Cassandra Stilwell said. Each student on court received a Boone mask to wear. Seniors Sydney Station and William Searl were crowned the Homecoming Queen and King.

Senior Zaria Barnes won the Leadership Scholarship offered by a donor from Boone Class of 1969. She will receive $3000 towards her college expenses at FSU in the Fall.
The theater department will close out its 2020-2021 season with an improv show at 2 p.m. on May 22.

In lieu of a traditional prom for juniors and seniors, junior class officers organized a reception for the senior class on April 17. The event was the first of its kind to happen in the new gym, and sold nearly 200 tickets. PHOTO OP.
