The Orender Service Award was created in honor of the man who founded Hampton Golf, Mr. MG Orender. Back in 1999, MG saw a need in the golf industry for a management company that does more than just manage but provides a level of care, skill, and service that is unmatched. Hampton Golf was therefore established, and the goals and values that started it all in 1999 are the same goals and values we have today. Please congratulate our most recent Orender Service Award recipients listed below!

A message from General Manager, Jay Iskow:
When asked my word for 2025, It was REINVIGORATED.
For many years, the iconic symbol of Falcon’s Fire Golf Club has been the 14-foothigh falcon that greets everyone at the entrance to the clubhouse.
Over the years, the falcon had been neglected and had fallen into disrepair. Julio Fuentes and his crew set out to REINVIGORATE the Falcon to its original glory. Irrigation was repaired, rocks and weeds were removed, turf grass and flowers were installed. After a good cleaning and a paint job on the base, the Falcon has recaptured its traditional position greeting all who visit Falcon’s Fire Golf Club. REINVIGORATING all who visit Falcon’s Fire Golf Club!

It’s been a wild summer here in SW Florida, with 13 rainy days in August alone! While the weather put golf and tennis on pause until the drier season, we still managed to squeeze in some fabulous social events.
Our recent Ladies’ Night, Petals & Prosecco, was a hit! Guests created gorgeous floral arrangements with guidance from the talented artists at Beneva Flowers & Plantscapes, while sipping prosecco and enjoying delicious lite bites. Laughter, creativity, and a little bubbly made for an unforgettable evening.
Next up, the spotlight was on the kids at our Back to School Pool Bash! The sun came out just in time for an epic day of fun that included a mouthwatering buffet, an inflatable water slide, endless snow cones, and a two-hour foam party that had kids and their parents laughing non-stop.
Check out the photos and relive the fun!

On Thursday, September 25th, Laurel Oak is proud to host this meaningful event for the second year. Local charities will be on hand to share information about the important work they do, and Members and their Guests will have the opportunity to connect with the organizations that inspire them. Last year’s event was a wonderful success, with many generously contributing their time and talents. We look forward to another impactful evening as we come together to support the Sarasota and Manatee communities we are fortunate to be a part of.
This spook-tacular evening is one of the club’s most fang-tastic traditions of the year! The fun kicks off with trick-or-treating through the community, then everyone creeps, crawls, and flies over to the club for a frightfully good time for ghouls and goblins of all ages. It was a boo-tiful night to remember!

Brittney Szelag , our new Banquet & Events Director, brings a wealth of experience from Peridia Golf & Country Club and Bird Key Yacht Club, where she held key roles in both food & beverage and event management. Her passion and expertise will help elevate our events to the next level.
Rene Rios has joined us as our new Food & Beverage Manager! Rene has an impressive background, having led F&B operations at Lakewood Ranch and The Meadows Golf & Country Clubs. His leadership and dedication to excellence will be a great asset to our Team.
We are pleased to announce that Ben Craggs has been promoted to Director of Golf Instruction at Laurel Oak Country Club.
Over the past year, Ben has been the primary point of contact for lessons, and his dedication to improving the game of our Members has been exceptional. In his new role, Ben will introduce a structured and innovative instructional program, offering a range of opportunities tailored to golfers of all levels. One of the exciting new benefits he will provide is CoachNow, an advanced coaching platform integrated with Golf Genius.
Ben coaches golfers of all ages and stages, from beginners to elite competitors. His coaching philosophy is rooted in making improvement feel simple, enjoyable, and achievable — using cutting-edge technology and performance-based strategies to drive meaningful change with the least path of resistance. Whether you’re chasing lower scores or rediscovering your love for the game — your journey to better golf starts here.
Enjoy some photos from the super fun golf camp Ben led this summer. The kids had an amazing golf learning experience.

Sherry joined Laurel Oak on June 12, 1995. Her first position was as a Hostess for evening dining, and she also helped during busy lunches and in the banquet department when needed. After a few years, she became the club's Receptionist—and has been the face and voice of Laurel Oak ever since!
Her first “office” was actually the copier room across from the current administration area at the front entrance. During a major club renovation, Sherry sat at a 6-foot banquet table in the hallway until she finally moved into her present space.
In Sherry’s own words: “It has been an enjoyable journey working at Laurel Oak, serving the Members, and working with some super staff over the past 30 years.”
Sherry has been a tremendous asset to the club and, thankfully, she’ll be with us for many years to come. It’s so refreshing to have such a lovely person answering the phones and greeting Members and Guests as the true face of Laurel Oak. There’s nothing better than the personal touch and attentiveness she brings every single day.

This was an historic event that highlighted our love of tradition and the game of golf! The players competed Thursday through Sunday for the coveted title. Along the way, after golf hours, we enjoyed a seafood dinner by the pool and the 100th Invitational Dinner. The tournament was won by two of our own! With Jesse Bull as champion and Shane Johnson as senior champion! What a week of golf and club camaraderie! Team Members behind the scenes worked so hard to make this a fantastic event!

June: Grace Karakas , pool server and Ty McCall , Locker room attendant and Luke Schottenbauer , Golf Course Maintenance have all been brightening up the club with their attention to detail and valuable contributions to creating a one-of-akind experience to our Members and Guests all season long!

To Caloosa Grill Chef, John Fitzgerald , on the birth of his son, John Michael. The future Chef arrived on August 17th, 2025, weighing 8 lbs. 15 oz and measuring 20 in. Both mom and baby are doing well, and John appreciates the love and support during this special time.

Through our Making A Difference Award at St. Cloud Country Club, we celebrate those who go above and beyond, not just in service, but in spirit!
This recognition honors individuals who embody the character, warmth, and dedication that make our club feel like home. Whether it’s a quiet act of kindness or consistent commitment to excellence, these Team Members remind us what it means to lead with generosity and grace.
We’re proud to shine a light on Lydia Otremba – Lydia exemplifies what it means to serve with heart. Whether she’s assisting Members in the golf shop or supporting her Teammates behind the scenes, her presence is thoughtful, steady, and always uplifting. She doesn’t just complete tasks—she anticipates needs, offers help before it’s asked for, and brings a sense of calm and care to every interaction. Her ability to think ahead makes each Guest feel valued and is what makes her such an essential part of our Team.
Recently, while welcoming a Guest for their tee time, Lydia discovered it was their first visit to the club. Without missing a beat, she leaned in with genuine enthusiasm, shared highlights about our amenities, and graciously offered a personal tour—turning a simple greeting into a memorable first impression.
Lydia’s commitment to hospitality and Teamwork doesn’t just make a difference—it inspires others.

Our Team created something special with An Evening with the Chef. This chef’s table–style event brought Members together over in an intimate setting with five courses, suggested wine pairings, and plenty of conversation with our chefs.

We hosted our first Sip n’ Paint and we were met with huge success. We had 27 people in attendance and we’re already planning for the next one.
