The 2026 annual budget is being prepared, and the BOD will be holding a budget workshop on Monday October 20th at 9:00am, Microsoft teams will be available for those of you who are out of town.
A general contractor has been chosen to do the updating and refreshing of the clubhouse. Southern Cross Construction has applied for permits from Manatee County and the project is planned to begin in November. We anticipate the project to take 9 months to be completed.
The process has started to implement the 2026 annual interim membership program. If any class A member would like to downgrade to class B for a twelve-month period, you will need to contact the Tara office and fill out an application. The drawing will take place near the end of October, please return your application to the Tara office as soon as possible.

MESSAGE FROM DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER dtaylor@taragcc.com
Dear Members,
October is here, and with it comes the unofficial start of our season. To our many northern Members returning home, welcome back. We’ve missed you, and we look forward to seeing the energy and spirit you bring to our club each year.
This summer has been a season of progress. We’ve invested time, resources, and care into projects that will set Tara up for years to come. I’m happy to share a few important updates with you:
The long-anticipated opening of our new pickleball center is rapidly approaching. While we did experience a delay— caused by the county’s need to replace a section of sewer line that ran beneath our new facility—we are now back on track. This was not work on our property, but it was essential to complete before we could move forward. Soon, this exciting amenity will be ready to welcome players of all levels. We’ll be sending a separate email with an FAQ to answer your questions about operations, scheduling, and play.
We have completed the installation of our new roofs, and I can proudly say they look fantastic. The dark bronze stands strong and elegant, and once paired with the fresh landscaping around the clubhouse and parking lot, the entire property will take on a refreshed, vibrant look. The clubhouse and surrounding buildings will soon be painted to match the pickleball center—neutral tones with crisp white trim—to complement the new roofs beautifully. The existing brick will remain, honoring the classic character of Tara.
We have officially submitted the permit for our clubhouse refresh, and the project is slated to begin in early November. This will mark a new chapter in the life of our clubhouse, and while the work is underway, we’ll be navigating life with half the available space. We ask for your patience and flexibility as we do our best to balance daily dining with member and non-member events. The result will be worth the wait.
Our transition to the new point-of-sale system has been a success. Most recently, we rolled out the new members’ website, designed to be easier to use, more intuitive, and more powerful in serving your needs. We’ll continue to host help sessions to ensure every member feels comfortable and confident with the platform.
This fall marks a time of renewal at Tara. We’ve strengthened our foundation, we’ve added new opportunities for recreation, and we’ve modernized the tools we use every day. Most of all, we’ve done this together—as one community.
Thank you for your support, your patience, and your pride in this club. I cannot wait to share the season ahead with each of you.
Respectfully,
David Taylor

It’s back, The Member Wedding Photo Guessing Contest (Round 2)!

The Catch: You cannot vote for your own photo — so play fair!

MESSAGE FROM MISSY WILLIAMS, HEAD GOLF PRO 941.758.7961 x1226 | mwilliams@taragcc.com
Happy Fall, y’all!
The weather is becoming a bit less humid, and that means it’s time for more golf! October is filled with exciting events, and we’re thrilled to announce the Men’s Member-Guest tournament, which will take place from October 16th to 18th. We’re in the process of finalizing the details to ensure it’s an unforgettable experience. Make sure to invite your favorite golfing buddy for this signature fall event!
Here’s what we have planned so far:
Thursday: Arrive at the pro shop around 3:00 PM to pick up your tee gift. Then, join us for a grand dinner with an open bar following a putting contest and cocktail hour by the putting green. Don’t forget to place some bets for extra fun that evening!
Friday: We’ll kick off the day with an 11:00 AM luncheon before the 1:00 PM shotgun start. This is a two-day, two-some net ringer event, and there won’t be a formal dinner afterward.
Saturday: Start your day by arriving at 7:00 AM for a breakfast sandwich station, followed by an 8:00 AM shotgun start for the final round. When the play wraps up and we tally the scores, the top two teams will head back out for a three-hole shootout to decide the overall winners. Flight prizes will also be awarded!
The cost is $600.00 per team, and please remember that your guest must be a true guest (no member-member teams allowed).
Stay tuned for our upcoming Club Essentials tee time training sessions, which will be announced soon!
As you might have noticed on a few Tuesday mornings, PGA Hope classes were awarded to Tara’s host PGA Professionals, Missy and Nathan, who are both PGA Hope Certified trainers! This is an incredible honor as they help veterans learn the game of golf that you all cherish.
PGA Hope is dedicated to transforming and enhancing the lives of Veterans and Active Duty military Service Members through golf. The sessions in October will be held on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. For more information about this program, feel free to reach out!

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE
SUPERINTENDENT
941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com
It is the time of the year when the golf course is busy from sunrise to sunset. Cart traffic is one of the toughest challenges the golf course faces this time of year. Golf cart traffic patterns start to appear because of the carts going over the same area. The wear and tear of golf cart traffic can cause unsightly and expensive damage to the golf course. Tire ruts in soft, wet areas can take weeks to heal. Compaction caused by heavy traffic can cause tight lies. The members can help prevent damage by following the course’s standard golf cart policy and obeying temporary restrictions caused by weather, construction or other factors. The following are a general list of tips that if followed, will greatly help in keeping our golf course in top playing condition.
• Pay attention to any ropes, stakes or signs because they are signaling that the area should not be driven on.
• Never drive a golf car through standing water or turf areas that appears overly wet.
• Never drive onto a green, collar, tee, par three holes or any marked hazard.
• Avoid abrupt stops and sharp turns that could cause skidding.
• Avoid driving over sprinkler heads, yardage markers and drain basins.
• Avoid pulling off the path near tees and greens.
• Keep all four tires on the path whenever possible and do not park with the tires off of the cart path.
• Everyone can help minimize the amount of wear from heavy traffic by entering and exiting at the green and white posts.

Dear Tara Residents,
Snowbird season will start this month, as our seasonal residents start arriving. Getting away from the cold in northern states is good reason to head back to Florida.
Let’s be more aware of our surroundings as traffic changes throughout our neighborhood and main roads. We’ll see our stores and favorite restaurants become busier as we enjoy the great weather here.
Snowbird season shapes Florida’s winter rhythm – brighter, busier and full of activity!
While many residents come to Tara to relax and enjoy themselves, how about joining a committee to help our association? This is a great way for you to become more involved in the community and make a difference! Please check the TMA website for the application form to join a committee.
The next regular scheduled board meeting is October 23rd at 9:30am at the Preserve Community Center and via Zoom. Please join us to keep up to date with TMA activities.
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President Tara Master Association
Tara Residents,
IMPROVED COMMUNICATIONS
New g-mail account: tmalandscaping1@gmail.com
Communicating with the TMA Landscape Committee is now easier than ever! The Committee is pleased to announce their new e-mail address, making it easier for members to report concerns ranging from irrigation, lighting, flagpole issues, flowers, plants and trees or any other issue/ concern/feedback you observe either on Tara Boulevard from State Road 70 to Tara Preserve Lane, down Tara Preserve Lane to Braden River Road and on Braden River Road.
Your extra set of eyes will help us address problems faster or let us know we are on the right track with the enhancements we are making on your behalf. This site will be monitored by our Committee Chair, Karen Cardozo, and we intend to reply to any emails within a 48-hour period.
THANK YOU
To those Members that notified us about irrigation “geyser” issues on the Boulevard, we THANK YOU! We appreciate the extra sets of eyes noticing and REPORTING issues when you see them. It minimizes costs and repairs occur sooner than later. THANKS AGAIN!
TARA BOULEVARD VIBURNUM HEDGES
In July 150 viburnum shrubs were planted along Tara Boulevard replacing those that had reached the end of their lifecycle. A minimal amount of these plantings were lost, as expected with this size project, and were replaced by our landscape vendor, Greentech, in September at no charge.
TARA BOULEVARD MEDIANS
The new flowers are filling in nicely in the five island medians on Tara Boulevard. These flowers are drought-tolerant, require less maintenance and will last longer than previous plantings. Over the next few months they will continue to fill in and flourish.
Thanks again to our TMA Landscape Committee: Karen Cardozo, Deb King, Chris Hoskinson, Marian Murdoch and Bob O’Tain. If you are interested in joining this fantastic team, please e-mail the Committee at tmalandscaping1@gmail.com as we are always looking for interested Members.
Best Regards,
Denise Smark

To preserve the value of our homes and the beauty of the TARA Golf and Country Club, the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) oversees all resident-submitted requests for exterior modifications to homes and lots. ARC Approval Required
Residents must submit a formal request and receive approval before making any changes, additions, or alterations to the exterior of their property. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Exterior paint and trim (approved color palettes available in the office)
• Driveways
• Enclosures
• Lighting
• Landscaping
• Lanai modifications
• Solar installations
• Pool construction
• Windows and shutters
To avoid fines or the reversal of unauthorized renovations, please follow the approved process. ARC forms are available in the office or online at the TARA website (under the Administration tab, select “ARC Information and Forms”).
Single-family home inspections will begin in October. Condominium inspections are scheduled for later in the season.
New garbage bins were delivered at the end of August and should now be in use on regular collection days. Starting October 6, all waste—including trash, recycling, and yard debris—will be collected on Thursdays. Please note: plastic bags will no longer be accepted for yard waste.
If the standard bin is too large or difficult to store, residents may request a 64-gallon bin from Manatee County beginning December 1, 2025. Requests can be made by calling 941-792-8811 or visiting www.mymanatee.org/css
Smaller bins will be delivered after January 1. Per ARC standards, all garbage receptacles must be stored inside garages.
In the event of a storm, please clear any damage promptly. This helps protect your property and maintains safety and aesthetics for your neighbors.
With ongoing improvements to our club and community, we remain committed to making TARA a wonderful place to live and play.
Irene Ras
ARC chair
Did you know that our new garbage collection rules and procedures go into effect Oct. 6th. ARE YOU READY?
By now you’ve probably all received your new 96-gallon big garbage bin along with directions that explain what you need to do to ensure that your garbage, recycling and yard waste is properly picked up. Manatee County also has a website BigBinAdvantage that you can reference that has all the info you need.
Biggest change is all garbage, recycling and yard waste will only be picked up once a week, on the same day, by 3 different automated trucks. That day seems to be Thursday for most of Tara, but check your address using the link above to confirm.
So, what are the major changes you should be prepared for?
1. All garbage must be contained within your new 96-gallon big bin and all recycling must be contained within your current blue recycling bin. Any trash that doesn’t fit inside the bin requires an additional fee. No loose bags or items of any kind can be left outside these containers. Both bins need to be placed 3 feet from the curb and at least 3 feet away from each other or any other obstruction by 6:00am on your pickup day.
2. Yard waste must be placed in a container, in compostable paper bags, or tied into bundles (Under 4ft long and less than 40lbs). Yard waste in plastic bags is no longer accepted. Yard waste also needs to be at least 3 ft away from the garbage and recycling bins. Using your old garbage can to put your yard waste in is a great idea! However, if you don’t want to keep your old garbage can for that purpose, you have 30 days from when you received your new big bin to have it removed. Simply place the can out at the curb on your garbage day with a sign that says “Please Remove” and they will take it away.
3. Bulk items can no longer be placed at the curb as they will no longer be picked up as part of the regular weekly garbage service. In addition, the free once-a-year bulk pickup will no longer exist and all bulk items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, TVs or large quantities of yard waste will now have an additional fee charged. You can schedule a bulk item pickup request by calling 941 792-8811.
4. Now for some good news?
• The cost for the weekly garbage, recycling and yard waste service will remain the same at $23.65 per month. As cost efficiency was the major reason for these overall changes, streamlining the process and going to automated trucks which will only require 1 worker instead of 2 workers per truck is helping to control costs for residents.
• If, after using your new 96-gallon big bin for 3 months, you find that it is just too big or cumbersome for you to manage, you can request a free one-time swap to a 64-gallon trash bin. Starting Jan 1, 2026, you can call Manatee County at 941 792-8811 and request the smaller 64-gallon trash bin that will be the same size as your recycling bin. They will deliver you a new 64-gallon trash bin and remove the 96-gallon big bin at the same time.

Southern Cross has been approved as the contractor for the refresh. The roof and parking lot are complete. The landscaping is on schedule for late September or early October. Quotes are being obtained for painting the outside of the building.
New Club Software:
The transition is in process, with data being moved over. The new website should be much easier to navigate for members.
Breast Cancer Golf Outing:
On behalf of the committee, WE WANT TO THANK those golfers who have signed up as we are SOLD OUT for this great outing to support a local Breast Cancer organization, with all money raised staying in the local community. Please remember to bring cash for mulligans, skins, surprise guest drivers, and raffles. The committee has secured hole-in-one sponsors from Sunset Cadillac and Razor Carts, and numerous additional sponsors. Contact Jane O’Tain or John Bourjaily to donate a raffle basket or silent auction items.
Dress Code:
Dress Code was voted on September 3 and has gone to the Board for review and editing.
Room Naming:
As part of the refresh, we are looking at renaming some of the rooms at Tara. A survey will be going out to the membership soon to assist in this process. Start thinking about ideas! We are still Tara, we are just updating room names.
Sincerely,

Provides secure storage for easy access later
Works with one simple tap no tech headaches!
With Plaud AI, minutes practically write themselves so Secretaries can focus on the conversation, not the note-taking.
These upgrades are more than new tools—they’re a shift in how we work together. Teams ensures smoother collaboration, while Plaud AI takes care of the details in the background. That means less stress, more accuracy, and more time to focus on meaningful discussions.
Begin using Microsoft Teams for all committee meetings
