TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

FROM

Through the summer there will be several projects that will cause some inconvenience to our Members, I would like to thank everyone for their patience as these projects progress.

The clubhouse refresh and update is moving forward, we are getting close to picking a general contractor to do the work. Once we choose a contractor, we will have a better idea of the timing of the project. Look for future updates, we will get the information out as soon as we can.

The development on the vacant lot is on schedule and we anticipate that it will be completed by October 1st.

I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

TARA’S MISSION: The mission of Tara Golf & Country Club is to provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where Members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.

Dear Members,

As we welcome the month of July here at Tara, I want to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come—and how much we have to look forward to. This is an exciting time for our Club, a moment of transformation, growth, and renewed energy. And we couldn’t be more thrilled to invite you to be part of it.

On Tuesday, July 2nd at 3:00 PM in the Main Dining Room , we hope you’ll join us for a special presentation unveiling the layout of our refreshed clubhouse —including the stunning new bar, enhanced banquet spaces, and design elements that are inspired by a warm, welcoming, and timeless aesthetic. The Clubhouse Refresh Committee has worked diligently, and your feedback remains a vital part of this process. We are proud of the direction we’re heading, but this is your home—and your voice matters.

July also brings a brief pause in some of our operations as we prepare the grounds and facilities for a strong finish to the summer. From July 7th through the 13th , the golf course will be closed for essential cultural practices—an investment in the long-term health of our beautiful course. The clubhouse will also be closed during this time and will reopen for Sunday Brunch on July 20th. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this necessary maintenance window.

Of course, before we take that short break, we look forward to celebrating Independence Day in true Tara fashion—with our 4th of July golf outing in the morning , followed by a festive party that evening . Good food, great company, and the spirit of community—we hope to see you there.

Our roof replacement project is also progressing well, with work underway on the main clubhouse, golf shop, cart barn, and fitness center . Completion is expected in late July, and the result will be a more durable, unified look that enhances both form and function across our campus.

And just down the street from the clubhouse, our new pickleball complex is taking shape beautifully. We are on track to open this exciting amenity in September/October , and it promises to be a vibrant hub of activity for players of all levels.

As always, thank you for being part of this incredible community. These improvements reflect not just the vision of a committee, but the shared aspirations of our entire Membership. Let’s continue to move forward— together.

Respectfully,

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:

MESSAGE FROM MISSY WILLIAMS, HEAD GOLF PRO 941.758.7961 x1226 | mwilliams@taragcc.com

Happy July, everyone! It’s hard to believe how quickly time is flying by. We have some exciting updates coming to the golf shop this month, including the installation of new carpet and a fresh coat of paint. Be on the lookout for more detailed information about this project in the coming days.

As we prepare for this transformation, please note that there will be slight adjustments to our golf shop hours. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure a smooth transition during the renovations. All fixtures and merchandise will need to be relocated to facilitate the installation and painting process efficiently.

GOLF COURSE & DRIVING RANGE CLOSURE INFORMATION:

The golf course and driving range will be closed from July 7th through July 13th for maintenance. Additionally, the cart barn will be closed from July 8th until July 13th. On July 7th, we will take the opportunity to thoroughly clean and detail all golf carts in preparation for reopening.

During the renovation period, the golf shop hours will be adjusted to 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily from July 7th - July 13th. If you need your golf clubs to play other courses during this time, please make sure to collect them before July 7th.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we enhance our golf shop! We’re excited for the improvements and can’t wait to share our refreshed space with you.

TARA COURSE HAPPENINGS

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com

The first aerification of the year was a success. The greens, tees, fairways and rough were aerified with hallow tines in order relieve soil compaction and remove thatch. 5/8 inch tines were used on the greens and tees while 3/4 inch tines were used on the fairways and rough. The aerification created pore spaces which allowed oxygen to get to the root zone. Remember, in order to grow good grass it must have deep healthy roots and getting oxygen into the root zone will relieve soil compaction and create new pore spaces for the roots of the plant to grow. The second aerification of the year will happen on July 7th. In addition to the aerification, we will verticut the fairways in order to remove thatch. By removing the thatch this will allow water, air and nutrients to reach the root zone and this will produce healthy turf in the fairways. These cultural practices keep the golf course in the best possible condition throughout the year.

The following is the aerification schedule for the rest of the summer:

• July 7th – July 13th | Aerify the Greens, Fairway Verticut

• September 8th – 10th | Aerify Tees and Fairways, Pre emergent

WELCOME INTRODUCTION

A NOTE FROM SAMANTHA CROCKER

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER

941.758.7775 x1225 | scrocker@taragcc.com

Hello Tara Members,

I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Food & Beverage Manager here at Tara Golf & Country Club! My background spans both private country clubs and fine dining, and I’ve always loved being part of places where people come together over great food, drinks, and conversation.

One of my biggest passions is creating experiences that feel memorable, not just meals. I’m especially looking forward to expanding our beverage program with curated wine pairings, seasonal cocktails, and engaging events. I have a personal love for Italian wines and tequila, and I’m currently pursuing my Level 1 sommelier certification to continue growing and offering more to our Members.

Outside of the club, I spend most of my time with my spouse, Vincent, our adventurous 5-year-old daughter, Brynley, and our golden retriever, Nellie. We recently moved back to Florida after spending a year in Montana, where I developed a love for skiing—though I’m happy to be near the water and sunshine again!

I’m excited to get to know you all and help make your time at Tara even more enjoyable. Please feel free to stop by and say hello!

Warmly,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM KIM LOSKOTA, PRESIDENT

Dear Tara Residents,

As summer moves into full swing, let’s be diligent about storms and possible hurricanes. The TMA board expects to take a few months off from meetings and will keep you posted if a board meeting is called.

The CAC committee still has a watchful eye on the July 7th date for the owners proposing the apartment on Stone River to appeal the decision.

Stay cool, be safe and enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM DENISE SMARK, TMA BOARD DIRECTOR

Tara Residents,

I hope you’re enjoying the start of Summer – no matter where you are currently located! The TMA Landscape Committee continues to stay busy by executing remediation plans for the areas I mentioned in my June article as well as identifying other areas that could be enhanced this year. Several activities were recently completed, and the Committee hopes you are starting to see a difference in the look of Tara Boulevard, Tara Preserve Lane and Braden River Road.

Our new landscape vendor has been on-boarded and began immediately correcting the watering range issues and pipe breakages on the Boulevard with our irrigation system. Unfortunately, there were more broken lines and heads than originally anticipated. As of now all major irrigation repairs have been resolved and we can finally focus on replacement plants now that they can be properly watered.

In early July Greentech will begin replacing our flowerbeds with a beautiful combination of flowers at our State Road 70 monument entrance and around the trees in the medians along Tara Boulevard. Since planting new flowers couldn’t be done until the irrigation system was working properly, and the irrigation issues were more complex than we initially thought they’d be, it’s taken a little longer than we expected. We thank you for your patience and understanding - we believe it will be worth the wait once you see the outcome!

Trimming of the eighty Live Oak trees along Tara Boulevard was completed at the end of May, lifting the canopy higher and reducing potential lower branch issues. In addition, at our request, Manatee County representatives met with us and trimmed several trees along Braden River Road to improve the walkability in this area. As their trimming was minimal, the Landscape Committee will be dedicating funds in the 2026 budget to have more thorough trimming completed.

Finally, the wall repair to the small monument wall at the corner of Drewry’s Bluff and Braden River Road was performed. While it took multiple visits for the contractor to finalize the repair, it is now complete.

Longer term, the TMA Landscape Committee is working on a strategy to refresh our front entry on State Road 70 and our medians on the Boulevard. This plan will update our look and showcase the beauty of our community - look for more details on this initiative in future articles.

All this work continues to be completed through the hard work of your TMA Landscape Committee: Karen Cardozo, Deb King, Chris Hoskinson, Marian Murdoch and Bob O’Tain. If you are interested in joining this fantastic team, please give me a call to discuss as we are always looking for interested Members.

Best Regards,

Did you know that Tara has a new Lifestyle Director?

So, you may say to yourself, what is a Lifestyle Director? Meet Olivia Baldassari, Tara’s new Lifestyle Director! She’ll be overseeing the scheduling and execution of all Member events in the clubhouse and will be working closely with the Food & Beverage manager to ensure a fun and engaging experience for all Members.

Olivia will also coordinate the Fitness & Recreation schedule and Member communications, including all card activities, tennis, pickleball, and bocce ball. She’ll ensure all these events and activities are thoughtfully planned and clearly communicated, so you always know what’s happening, when, and where.

Be sure to say hello and introduce yourself—Olivia would love to meet you. She’s the one with the big smile!

Did you know that Tara has a Book and Puzzle Exchange?

If you like to read books and put puzzles together, we have a program that’s perfect for Members like you who enjoy relaxing, mentally engaging activities. Tara has a program where you can browse availably used books and puzzles and if you find something you like, you can take it home with you and enjoy it. You’ll find shelves stocked with gently used books and boxed puzzles just inside the entrance to the fitness center—books on the left, puzzles on the right.

See something you like? Take it home and enjoy—any Tara Member can either drop off or pick up books and puzzles at their leisure; no check-out process and no need to return it (unless you’d like to).

The more Members participate, the more variety there is for everyone. So even if you don’t frequent the fitness center, make a point to stop by and take advantage of this great little perk!
