INTRODUCTION
You are about to operate one of the unique productsthe Power Lifter (Model 440 WORKPRO)---on the market today. To ensure that your Power Lifter provides years of safe, dependable service, only trained and authorized persons should operate and service the Power Lifter. It is the responsibility of the operator to read, fully understand, and follow all operational and safety related instructions contained in this manual. DO NOT operate the Power Lifter until you have read and fully understand these instructions. Remember, ALWA VS use good safety practices to protect yourself and those around you.
Important: This operators manual must remain with the machine at all times! Should it
become damaged or fost, immediately contact any authorized Compact Technologies distributor or contact the Compact Technologies Service Parts Department at (800) 643-5077 or (701) 742-3284 for replacement. Compact Technologies also recommends that the engine manufacturer Owner's Manual be kept with the machine. Failure to follow engine manufacturer's recommendations may affect engine warranty.

The Compact Technologies vehicle which you have just purchased is carefully designed and manufactured to ensure minimum cost, maximum reliability, and easy service. Extensive testing and high standards of quality control assure that these standards are maintained.
To keep your Compact Technologies vehicle in good condition follow the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND CHECKLIST, pages 22, 23 herein.
Compact Technologies vehicles are also backed by a network of distributors who were chosen for their experience and reliability. They will assist you in keeping your Compact Technologies vehicle in peak operating condition.
Take a moment to record warranty and distributor information that is of help to you when parts or service assistance is needed.
PRELIMINARY CHECK-NEW VEHICLE
Have a qualified mechanic check a new vehicle out to determine whether or not it has been damaged in shipment. Any damage should be immediately reported to the transportation company.
OPERATOR TRAINING REQUIREMENT
Train every operator before operating this or any materials handling vehicle. Training must include a study of acceptable operating practices and actual supervised driving experience. Operator knowledge includes familiarity with all operating instructions before attempting to operate the vehicle.
PRE-OPERATION CHECK
../ Check the hydraulic oil level. ../ Check the engine oil level with the vehicle on a level surface and the engine stopped. ../ If vehicle is equipped with a battery, check to determine that the battery is adequately charged, properly installed, and connected . ../ Check fuel level in gas tank . ../ Check tire pressure. Each tire requires 65 psi (449 kPa). ../ If a Power Ufter is used by an employee, is loaned, or rented, make sure that the operator understands the two items below. Before the operator starts the engine: 1. Give instruction to the operator on safe and correct use of the vehicle.
2. Make sure the operator reads and understand the operators manual for this vehicle.
