HYDRAULIC PRESSURE HAZARD .......................................................................................................................1

Safety FELLING TREES

Fragments of wood, debris on the ground, or loose saw teeth are potentially dangerous missiles when thrown from rotating saw blade. Inspect saw teeth, teeth retaining bolts, the saw disc, and felling head for loose parts, cracks, or any evidence of damage. Verify that all saw tooth retaining bolts are correctly torqued. Refer to attachment manual for correct values. Replace worn saw teeth or rotate worn teeth to align unused cutting tips. Replace saw teeth retaining bolts when replacing saw teeth.

Inspect the saw disc for stress cracks and wobble due to worn saw shaft bearings. Do not start the engine if the saw disc is bent, or has missing teeth or teeth retaining bolts Shut down the machine immediately if vibration occurs during cutting. Verify that the saw discharge area is clear of debris and free of damage. When moving from tree to tree with the saw blade turning, take care not to make contact with other vegetation or debris. Do not overload the felling head. Do not attempt to fell a tree that is too large for the felling head.

Operate so that the chip discharge area of the felling head (where applicable) is not directed at people, livestock, buildings, or other machines. When cutting, position felling head squarely in front of tree and run the saw at full speed. Recognize and control the direction of tree fall to prevent injury to personnel or damage to other vehicles or equipment. When backing away from a cut, beware of obstacles to the sides and rear of the machine.

Travel with the attachment as close to the ground as possible; do not elevate the attachment unless necessary. Do not work alone. Regularly inform other crew members of your intentions, location, and length of time to perform duties.

WARNING

Use this machine for its intended purpose only. Do not use the boom to service other equipment. Do not use the boom to lift tires, engines, cylinder, boom sections, or any other components. Do not modify the boom system. Do not add hooks or lugs to the boom for lifting or rigging. Use the attachment only for its intended purpose. Maintain a safe operating distance between personnel and equipment. The operator must verify that no person approaches a machine at work.

Failing to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

Do not use this machine to clear a logging deck while other equipment and personnel are moving into the area. Clear decks before other equipment and personnel arrive on site.

Do not work alone. Maintain regular contact with other crew members. Each crew member should be aware of other members' whereabouts.

Stop the saw blade before driving the machine away from the cutting area. The saw blade will freewheel for several minutes after the saw switch has been turned off. To stop a freewheeling blade, lower the blade gently onto a stump; avoid loading the disc, housing, and bearings.
