(4)Faulty orbit-roll (sticking or worn spool and sleeve)

Measure the force required to turn the steering wheel .

1. Place the machine in a travel position on a level, paved surf ace, and release the parking brake.

2. Make the hydraulic fluid to an operating temperature (40 - 60 °C).

3. Make the bucket empty.

4. Under this condition, measure the forces required to turn the steering wheel for both when the engine is running at a low idling speed and when it is runni ng at the maximum speed. At the same time, check for any irregularity in the required turnin g force (sticking).

Refer Performance standard list for standard value.

Measure the amount of slip of the steering wheel.

1. Turn the steering wheel to the right or left until it makes a close contact with the stopper on the frame stopper (stroke end).

2. Continue turning the steering wheel further; the steering whe el will be made to rotate while slipping due to the internal leakage that takes place i n the orbit-roll. Measure the number of turns the wheel make in a minute.

Standard value

The standard value for a new machine is 3.5 turns per minute. If the number of turns is 1.5 times the standard value, the internal leakage is excessive, so the steering system must be repaired.

Above standard value

Repair or replace orbitroll.
