Differentiallock

The backup warning system consists of a backup alarm

A fitted on the inside of the cover over the towing device, and a switch and wiring. The backup alarm generates an acoustic signal when you shift into reverse. The acoustic level is about 103dB(A) at a distance of 3’ (1 m) and at a frequency of 2800Hz.

WARNING!

When backing up with the machine –Accidentrisk.

☞ Make sure nobody is within the work area of danger of the machine.

☞ Do not rely exclusively on the backup alarm to alert others.

IMPORTANT!

A differential lock distributes traction evenly to the front and rear wheels. Both the front and rear axles of the machine are fitted with self-locking differentials. The lock value is 45% for each axle. The differential is locked automatically and cannot be turned on or off by the operator.

Steeringsystem

Steering synchronization

WARNING!

Do NOT synchronize the steering system as you drive on public roads –Accidentrisk.

☞ Synchronize the steering system as described below before driving on public roads.

☞ At low drive speed, slowly turn the steering wheel to the left and right maximum positions and try turning it even further in the end position for a few seconds (as if cornering).

☞ Turn the steering wheel back to the straight-ahead position.

☞ Contact your Mustang dealer if this does not synchronize the wheels.

Steering synchronization (with 25 mph [40 km/h] high speed)

Wheel synchronization is automatically set by turning the steering wheel to the left and right when starting the machine, indicator 41 flashes as you turn the wheel. When both steering rams have passed through the straight-ahead position from both directions, synchronization is completed and indicator 41 on the instrument panel turns off.

Only the first drive range is active during synchronization. Use rocker switch 67 to select the second range, but the shift to this range does not take place until synchronization is completed.

IMPORTANT!

You must synchronize if the wheels no longer follow the same track when driving straight-ahead on level ground.

☞ Proceed as follows:

•Machines with high speed (option): make sure high speed is turned off.

IMPORTANT!

Make sure that the machine is at a standstill.

•Select low drive range 67 A

–see Select drive range on page51 .

•Drive at walking pace on level ground and press tip switch 52/B

•Steer to the left and right while driving until indicator 41 turns off.

•Complete a functional check of the steering system.

Changing steering mode (withhigh speed option)

Frontwheelsteering

The machine actuates front-wheel steering when you shift to high speed (option).

➥ –see Selecting drive range, high speed (option) on page52

➥ The machine shifts only after the rear axle is set to straight-ahead. Indicator 69 flashes as the machine shifts.

➥ Indicator 69 for four-wheel steering comes on

Fourwheelsteering

The machine actuates four-wheel steering when you disengage the high speed (option)

➥ –see Select drive range on page51

➥ The machine shifts after the front axle is set to straight ahead. Indicator 51 flashes as the machine shifts.

➥ Indicator 51 for four-wheel steering comes on

Stopping/parkingthemachine

WARNING!

Machines parked on slopes may roll away. If you park on a slope:

☞ Apply the parking brake

–see Parking brake on page50.

☞ Place chocks under the downhill sides of the tires.

☞ Reduce engine speeds: remove your foot from accelerator pedal 27/8.

☞ Stop the machine by using the service brakes 27/32

☞ Set the machine to neutral by using tip switch 32/76 on the joystick

☞ Apply the parking brake

–see Parking brake on page50.

☞ Lower the telescopic unit. To do this:

•Push control lever 27/10 forward out of neutral.

•Place the bucket on the ground so that the edge is flush with the ground. To do this: Push control lever 27/10 to the left or right

–see Control valve of the telescopic unit: overview on page73.

☞ Turn off the engine

–see Starting the engine on page45.

Afteroperationatfullpower:

☞ Allow the engine to run until the temperature stabilizes.

☞ Turn off the engine. To do this:

•Turn the ignition key to position “0”.
